Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain medium voltage (1kV-35kV) systems and, where applicable, 69kV Navy systems. Inspect, repair, and test a wide range of electrical components including underground cable systems, switches (oil, SF6, air), transformers, ground grid systems, and fuses. Troubleshoot electrical issues using specialized tools: multimeters, meggers, ammeters, cable locators, fault finders, high-potential test equipment, etc. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical manuals. Follow all safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E standards, and PPE requirements. No live (hot) work is permitted without prior written authorization. Respond to electrical service calls and emergencies, ensuring systems remain operational. Maintain and repair airfield lighting systems, including runway and taxiway lights, beacons, current regulators, optical landing systems, and control systems. Together We Grow - One Mission, One Team - With a Commitment to Serve Scope of Work: The Maintenance Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment, distribution, lighting, or utilization of electric energy. Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, and conduit systems. Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, layouts, and specifications to plan and assign work effectively. Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Perform calculations related to electrical loads, wiring requirements, and system performance. Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Ensure work areas are cleaned and restored after maintenance tasks are completed. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: Must have a valid Washington State Journeyman Electrician License (EL01). Must be knowledgeable of national and local electrical codes Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, and appliances needed for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical circuits, related fixtures, and hardware. Must be able to follow maintenance instructions, schedules and inspection of work orders and other job assignments. Must be able to perform maintenance services, diagnose systems or equipment malfunctions, and complete repairs when required. Must have knowledge of the composition, operation, and installation of a variety of electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls. Must be able to plan, layout, and complete the installation, modification, and repair of various electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls. Must be able to interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings. Must be skilled in the use of a wide variety of test equipment such as voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, and ohmmeter. Must be able to successfully complete and maintain government security clearance as required. Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position. Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position. CDL may be required for some positions. Physical Demands / Work Environment: Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time. Must be able to work from a scissor lift and/or articulating boom lift. Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
