This role demands extensive travel up to 75% of the time to remote solar sites with extended stays for up but not limited to 5 consecutive days Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Ensure that all subordinate staff and subcontractors demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, state and local codes, and Strata Solar Clean Energy O&M safety policies and procedures in the performance of plant maintenance activities. • Train & empower technicians to lead safety briefings that identify all potential hazards within a scope of electrical work as well as ways to mitigate exposure to any hazardous conditions. • Responsible for managing on site projects from inception through project closeout in conjunction with Regional Supervisors and field teams. • Review and update work orders for accuracy. • Travel to various sites across the company portfolio. • Analyze fleet sites performance and prioritize order of operation. • Oversee daily operation of the field team. • Coordinate with internal departments (safety, engineering, quality, supply chain, construction, etc.). • Compile maintenance reports that professionally present the results of work done by field team. • Perform analysis of inspection and testing data provided by field personnel. • Ensure completion and submission of all inspection and testing data provided by assigned field personnel. • Participate in system design reviews, scope of work reviews. • Develop new initiatives that will enhance department and organization capabilities and efficiency. • Troubleshoot & diagnose a wide range of Direct Current (“DC”) faults within the PV plant. • Assist with or lead interdepartmental maintenance operations as needed to support Power Plant Maintenance. • Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: The PPM Special Projects Field Technician reports directly to the Special Project Foreman. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: • Minimum three (3) years' experience working with PV power generation systems in a capacity that may include design, installation, operation, maintenance, or any combination thereof. • Minimum one (1) year experience as functional lead/supervisor of plant maintenance operations. • Comprehensive knowledge of PV power generating system fundamentals. • Comprehensive knowledge of all testing equipment, tools and procedures utilized in the maintenance of PV power generation systems. • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and coordinate with subordinate plant maintenance technicians, interdepartmental technicians and other personnel, vendors, and subcontractors in the performance of scheduled and unscheduled plant maintenance activities. • Proficiency with MS Office applications to include but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, and SharePoint, as well as various industry-related software platforms to include but not limited to CMMS, Flir Tools, and PV Analyzer. • Experience making and/or recommending business decisions that are safe, financially responsible, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. • Ability to operate in a professional workmanlike manner consistent with the organization's policies, procedures, and vision. Assists other line personnel in connection with construction, maintenance, and repair of the electric system. A class C lineman must already understand and be able to perform the required functions of an apprentice lineman. Work involves moderate physical exertion, heavy lifting, and exposure to inclement weather, as well as the hazardous conditions of working with high voltage energized lines and equipment. JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Must possess a minimum of one (1) years of experience performing overhead electric line construction, or completion of formal lineman training program. Must possess, and maintain a valid class A CDL and DOT medical card, and be able to remain insured as a driver by the group liability policy for the fleet. Must be able to work from elevated heights utilizing various methods, to include, but not limited to, bucket trucks and pole climbing tools. Must be able to physically perform all assigned tasks. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Must possess at a minimum, a high school diploma, or its equivalent. JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES Must be able to assist with preparing, and conducting a pre-job briefing and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA). Must be able to interpret maps, specifications, staking sheets, and complex diagrams, with minimal assistance. Will assist in the training of apprentice linemen. Ability to assist first class lineman, or higher, with all line work according to safety standards and regulations. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and be available 24/7 to address unplanned outages or activities. Must possess good judgment, safe work methods, and ability to work well with diverse groups of people. Must be willing to work away from home, for potentially long periods of time, as required, to include storm restoration. Connect service wire leads, insert fuses, and test meter for proper voltage and operation. Able to install cross arms, insulators, conductors, switches, transformers, and other equipment on both overhead and underground system. Pull load break elbow from pad mount or rack-mounted equipment using hot stick. Periodically work extended overtime shifts. Proficient in Pole/Tower Climbing. Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces. Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
