Summary:
The Electrophysiology (EP) Lab Tech is responsible for assisting in electrophysiology studies, cardiac ablations, pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, and other specialized procedures within the EP lab. This role involves preparing patients for procedures, operating and troubleshooting EP lab equipment, monitoring patient responses, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. The EP Lab Tech plays a crucial role in supporting cardiac mapping, ablations, pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, and other specialized cardiac interventions.
Essential Work Functions:
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for EP lab patients and document findings accurately
Educate patients and families on electrophysiology procedures, pre-procedure expectations, and post-procedure care to ensure understanding and informed consent
Assist physicians with electrophysiology studies, ablations, and device implantations
Administer medications, including conscious sedation, per physician orders
Monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamics, and patient responses throughout procedures
Identify and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating care as needed
Maintain sterile technique and assist with equipment preparation, setup, and troubleshooting to support seamless procedural workflow
Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans
Provide immediate post-procedure care, monitoring complications and ensuring stable recovery
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Processes add-on test requests.
Removes specimens from transport bags, enters patient data, labels samples and aliquots as needed for multiple testing.
Sorts samples for distribution throughout the lab (X-rays, Coggins, Cytology, etc.).
Scans tubes into storage racks and enters specimen data into database to verify the accuracy of information.
Accessions various specimens including but not limited to urine, whole blood and plasma, feces, and biopsies.
Checks all trash containers within the Specimen Processing department when assigned.
Assists other lab personnel with specimen storage.
Ensure Turn Around Times (TAT's) are met.
Reads, understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures. Maintains clean and organized work area. Restocks supplies as needed.
Applies job skills and lab policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks.

Ensures the correct performance of tests in the assigned section, supervising staff performing these tests. Ensures that staff have been trained in procedures, including completion of technical training checklists. Reviews the performance of tests in the assigned section including review of daily test performance and reports as needed. Initiates corrective action as needed and performs any necessary follow-up. JOB DUTIES:
GENERAL STATEMENT: This position is responsible for laboratory and field work associated with the production and research of live invertebrates and plants for the purpose of managing or eradicating invasive invertebrates and plants.
Provides daily maintenance of plants and invertebrate colonies using established propagation and rearing techniques. These duties include, but are not limited to, the following: collecting and manipulating various insect life stages; working outdoors and in a greenhouse; following rearing protocols and procedures; participating in field research; monitoring rearing area environmental conditions; insect shipment preparation; laboratory, greenhouse, and rearing area sanitation and maintenance.
Accurately records and organizes field and lab maintenance and experimental data.

Frequently communicates with the public to answer questions and provide educational information at public outreach events. Includes phone, email, and face-to-face communications.
