For this position the reasonably expected base hourly rate is $24/hour for the Morning and Afternoon/Evening shifts, and $25/hour for the Overnight shift . You may also be eligible for a discretionary biannual contract completion bonus based on company and individual performance.     Perform vehicle operations in fixed-route, paratransit, on-demand and extended services. Duties include, but are not limited to, safe operation of motor vehicles, providing passenger assistance, customer service, radio operations, record keeping and adherence to all applicable laws. Consistently display sound judgment which results in decisions that place the agency in the best possible light. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Must be 18 years or older. Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Clean driving record and knowledge of traffic laws and safety rules applicable to the transportation of passengers. No Moving Violations within the last three years. Strong customer relations, sensitivity awareness and communications skills. Successfully complete the Transit Operator training program, which includes fixed-route operations and procedures, demand-response operations and procedures, work hazards and safety procedures. Acquire the knowledge to safely operate both fixed-route and paratransit vehicles and vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lift and a variety of securement devices, under all conditions of weather, roadways, and traffic while successfully dealing with passengers and schedule requirements. Work effectively with fellow employees at all levels of the agency in positive ways to improve the agency. Maintain a courteous, professional approach when dealing with the public, other agencies or other employees. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Maintain punctual and regular attendance to provide dependable service to the public. Demonstrate sensitivity to passenger's needs and limitations. Ability and willingness to work any shift assigned to meet the needs of the agency, including evenings, weekends, holidays and split shifts. Experience with two-way radio communications/terminology and procedures. Ability to learn scheduling and routing software. Must be able to read maps (navigation software) and follow directions while safely operating a transit vehicle. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking and walking.
