Lower Cape Fear LifeCare company history timeline
Lower Cape Fear Hospice in North Carolina and Mercy Care Hospice in South Carolina were both founded in 1980.
Our story began as a mission to help our community by providing care and compassion to those with life-limiting illnesses. It was this devotion that inspired the creation of Lower Cape Fear Hospice (now Lower Cape Fear LifeCare) in 1980.
Our 12-bed Doctor Robert M. Fales Hospice Pavilion in Wilmington opened in 1997.
Our seven-bed SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia, began serving patients in 2012
In 2014, a new, six-bed wing was completed at our Doctor Robert M. Fales Hospice Pavilion.
The two nonprofit hospices merged in 2014.
As of January 1, 2020, Lower Cape Fear Hospice changed its name to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare to better represent its expanded service lines, unite Mercy Care and Lower Cape Fear Hospice under one name and logo, and position the agency for future growth.
