Work collaboratively with OB scrub techs, unit clerks, occasional nurse techs, and in-house anesthesia
Charge nurse is present each shift and takes a patient assignment
OB and neonatologist are on call 24/7; NNP present overnight
RNs may read their own telemetry strips for Phase 1 recovery of C-section patients
Supplemental oxygen management is occasionally required

Responsibilities
Work in a 32-bed acute care stepdown unit with a focus on Med/Tele and PCU level patients
Care for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, medical, surgical, and respiratory conditions
Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5, with occasional 1:5-6 on nights and 1:3 for PCU overflow
Perform titration of cardiac drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low dose Dopamine
Required to interpret and monitor cardiac telemetry strips independently
Utilize Epic EMR for charting
Night shifts (12 hours), every other weekend and holiday required
Float to other units including PCU, Med/Surg, and ER holds as needed
Unit is supported by a charge nurse and nurse aides
Unit uses BiPAP, trachs, and Airvo respiratory equipment
Primary responsibilities include providing high acuity care to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, respiratory, and complex medical needs
Charge nurse is available on both shifts and may take a light assignment
