DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards. Ensures proper repair order documentation, i.e., complaint, cause and correction noted on every repair order with punch time for each operation. Reviews job status frequently, logging status and reporting any change in time or cost estimates to the appropriate service advisor and/or customer. Maintains an organized work in process through the dealership software system. Prepares estimates when required. Only flags a completed line on the repair order when the job is complete through the shop. Follows all warranty material disposition procedures. Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair. Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer. Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended. Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time. Perform a quality multipoint inspection on every vehicle to include supporting documentation; i.e. photos/video Documents all work performed and recommended within the dealership technologies. Road test all vehicles and document exact out mileage. SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or General Education degree (GED) in addition to 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. English language required, (Bilingual a plus) Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended Make accurate use of the multi-point inspection form on each vehicle Document all work performed and recommended on assigned repair order Communicate with service advisor when additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time Maintain technician proficiency as specified by Asbury standards Conduct road test to determine work needed and to confirm work was successfully completed when necessary and practical Utilize product and technical training as assigned by the manufacturer and management Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and schools to continuously expand your knowledge of new technology Maintain manufacturer (CSI) Customer Satisfaction Index at or above the Asbury specified goal(s) in service for district, regional and national scores Ability to Achieve Targeted Goals by completing the work, notations and time-keeping necessary to the successful completion of warranty repair orders and the filing of warranty claims Report to management any situation or condition that would jeopardize the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its customers or employees Perform all levels of diagnosis and repair on automobile, and or, light truck vehicles Participate in the training and developing of novice team members/technicians in the shop; also, Assist and help fellow technicians in the shop with vehicle diagnosis Understand and complete required training for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Comply with all federal, state and local laws, as well as company policy, regarding safeguarding all customer vehicles, property and information National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification(s) in different specialized areas such as brakes, electronic systems, or engine performance preferred Manufacturer certifications heavily preferred Automotive Technical or Trade School Degree is preferred Previous experience as a A or B automotive technician is required Must be a team player with a positive and friendly attitude Must have basic tools based on our experience Must have great technical, communication, mechanical and basic computer skills Must be a minimum of eighteen years of age Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent Degree Must have a valid driver's license Must be able to pass pre-employment screening (background & drug test) Applications will be accepted and candidates evaluated on an ongoing basis until the position is filled. POSITION SUMMARY As an Automotive General Service Technician for Big O Tires, you will be responsible for servicing and performing maintenance of tires and wheels in an accurate and timely manner.
