Pay Range: $23.50/hour - $30.00/hour Main Responsibilities: Set up and operate taping machines to insulate aluminum and copper wire based on order specifications for insulation type, width, thickness of layers, and footage. Perform first hour duties including, but limited to: Complete oven process control change card (Blue Card) Check all drawing dies; with special attention to the finish die and lube nozzles for plugging and misdirection. Change finish die felt and check vibration dampener. Check enamel flow on all ovens. Inspect Lear heads to make sure they are on and the wire is running through the reeds, and verify alignment. Check bare wire supply. Report any set deficiencies to your Group Leader or Supervisor Identify scrap wire with the appropriate documentation. If determination on wire cannot be made, wire should be placed in the disposition square for determination. ODQ all finished product. Change lube felts on changeovers, ox jobs, and once per month by plants guidelines or as needed. Complete all changeovers, conversions, start-ups and spec/package changes. Complete operations oven checklists Correct all red tags, trouble slips, and ODQ issues promptly. Put downed wires (ox jobs) back on production. Communicate any maintenance issues to Group Leader/Supervisor to ensure works orders are written for anything that needs repaired. Change scotch rites in bare wire clamps on required ovens as needed. Complete all necessary quality tests. Maintain a high level of housekeeping. Setup set for next operator/shift. The position will be responsible for loading untreated products into a furnace or tank setting the temperature for particular treatments. Monitoring the treatment cycle, cooling products by air-drying using oil baths (known as quenching), cleaning oxides and scale from products by using blasting equipment. Testing samples for hardness and other properties to make sure they meet the manufacturer's specifications and recording test results on a computer system. Core Responsibilities: Monitor and operate heat treat equipment, such as batch and continuous furnaces, endothermic generators, draw furnaces, induction machines, straightening presses, shot-blast, rockwell hardness testers, perform metrology testing as needed and other related duties to ensure that customer requirements and print specifications are met. Primary Duties: • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, customer specifications and heat treat process sheets. Knowledge on how to rack parts with multiple configurations. Load and unload furnaces. Uploads heat treat programs to the proper instrument and or furnace. Monitors furnace operation, instruments and recipe settings to detect malfunctions. Checks dewpoints periodically for proper carbon control. Metallograph inspection and microstructure evaluation. Understands the proper method of rockwell hardness and microhardness checks, hardness scales and interprets conversion factors. Checks case depth using the micro-hardness tester, visual method and 15n superficial rockwell machine. Set-up and operate induction scanners. Understands and interprets magnetic particle inspection. Able to make good decisions in the event of power loss or mechanical failure. Trains new operators in the areas of, induction machines, mag particle equipment, lab equipment and other lab duties. Maintains a level II magnetic particle inspection certification. Able to make good decisions in the event of power loss or mechanical failure. Start-up generators from room temperature or below 1250 deg. f. Understands the proper method of rockwell hardness checks, hardness scales and interprets conversion factors. Understands and interprets proper use of the 3 gas analyzer. Starts all equipment for production when necessary. Shuts down all equipment for idle when necessary. Good knowledge of straightening simple parts to very complex parts that require straightening in multiple areas. Operate induction scanners, with knowledge on how to start machines for production. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance at required intervals. Trains new operators to operate furnaces and other heat treat equipment. Maintains cleanliness of work area utilizing 5S techniques and methods. Performs other related duties and assignments as required. Class “A” must be capable of performing all primary duties. Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 3 (three) years factory related experience. Diagrammatic Reasoning Ability: Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagrammatic or schedule form. Mathematical Skills: Algebra-calculate variables and formulas, monomials and polynomials, ratio and proportion variables,Geometry-calculate plane and solid figures, circumference, area, volume and understand kinds of angles and properties of pairs of angles. Shop Math-add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
