Responsibilities:

The pay range for a candidate selected for this position who is based in Irvine, CA is typically $110,145 - $176,232 annually. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Job Description:
As a Senior Specialist Mechanical Engineer within our Surveillance product line, you are focused on developing TCAS and transponder radios, owning the mechanical engineering discipline through initial concept generation, design, qualification, and lifecycle management. You will be involved with multidisciplinary project teams involving electrical digital/analog, RF, firmware, and software engineering in planning, designing, prototyping, and testing of avionics transponders, RF, and sensor-based systems. You will additionally be responsible for ensuring the Surveillance product line follows industry best-practices for product development, such as Design for Cost and Design for Manufacturability. Design focus will include surveillance avionics for Air Transport, as well as General Aviation and emerging platforms such as Urban Air Mobility (UAM) eVTOL aircraft.
Essential Functions:
Conceptualize, design, integrate, and qualify mechanical enclosures and structures in the avionics realm.
Work closely with electrical and RF engineers to meet functional performance requirements for Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) in design activities.
Implement design practices that support DO-160 qualification for environmental and EMI/EMC.
Model physical geometry in SolidWorks and create supporting drawings.
Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
Support generation of design documents such as hardware requirements and hardware change impact analysis.
Utilize analysis tools for thermal, structural, and other relevant simulations.
Support production and sustainment of products in factory environment, working with operations and manufacturing to improve yield.
Effectively communicate across multiple technical teams.

Qualifications:
