Summary
Set up and operate machinery such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and band saws. Work with precision instruments such as micrometers. They may also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, or engineering specifications to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to machine products.
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to machine products.
Machine parts to specifications, employing conventional and CNC machinery.
Inspect and measure finished products using precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure compliance with specifications.
Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
Wear appropriate PPE, which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, and other necessary gear.
