Knowledge and Skill Requirement: This position should possess the following skills/knowledge: * Technical / Vocational certification in Tool and Die, Manufacturing Technology, machining or related field is desired. * Proficiency with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software is desired. * Four (4) years experience working as a Tool and Die Maker. * Good working knowledge of standard shop mathematics. * Good working knowledge of metal cutting feeds and speeds, threading terminology, and calculating angles for setting sine bars. * Understanding of grinding principles and procedures. * Able to read and interpret technical prints, sketches, design models, and/or verbal descriptions for planning operational sequences. * Strong manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools. * Knowledge of metal and other materials properties. * Experience with precision measurement tools. * Experience with Electrical Discharge Machining is desired. Environmental / Atmospheric Conditions: * Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areas. Performs entry-level duties in the production machine shop such as the handling and preparation of materials for machining, maintaining workflow, and performing other tasks as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Works safely and always maintains a safe work environment. * Takes responsibility for quality of work by performing all duties thoroughly and effectively with conformance to standards, quality systems, and established processes. * Supports Production Machinists by performing material handling duties. * Supports Production Machinists by pre-processing material for machining such as removing/installing bushings and other entry-level preparatory processes. * Assists in the maintaining of machines, equipment, and performing preventative maintenance activities as directed. * Assists in the setup and adjustments of machines or methods when directed. * Assists in operating machines or equipment under direct supervision. * Assists in handling and evaluation of scrap to verify yields. * Contributes to the housekeeping and 5s activity in the area. * Contributes to continuous improvement through employee involvement. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED equivalent required. 0-2 years of Machine Shop experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to read and understand English. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to read and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
