Position Overview
As a Machinist at Primetals, you will report to a Shift Supervisor and play a key role in setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting CNC machine tools. You'll also perform preventive maintenance, inspect parts to specifications, and make adjustments or tool changes to maintain top-quality production standards.
This position is ideal for experienced machinists who thrive in a hands-on, precision-focused environment and enjoy working with complex parts and advanced machining operations.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC Horizontal Boring, Milling, Turning, and/or Grinding machines for machining steel alloy forgings.
Perform operations including milling, boring, facing, turning, and grinding with both U.S. and metric dimensions.
Prove out new programs without programmer assistance, including checking tooling, setups, and program coordinates.
Edit CNC programs to correct errors, improve quality, and shorten run times.
Load, unload, and position workpieces; check conformity with dimensional specifications using gages, calipers, micrometers, etc.
Detect improper machine operation or faulty parts and shut down machines as needed.
Operate more than one machine under the proper conditions.
Perform trigonometry and other required mathematical calculations.
Complete conformance reports accurately.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Climb ladders, stairs, platforms, and ramps (up to 20% of the day).
Move in various positions (up to 25% of the day).
Stand or sit for extended periods (up to 25% of the day).
Lift and move up to 25 lbs. (up to 20% of the day).
Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and finger motions (up to 50% of the day).
Operate machinery, power tools, and forklifts as required.
Pull/push wrenches including torque wrenches (up to 30% of the day).
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
5-10 years of machining experience (CNC preferred).
Strong knowledge of measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gages, etc.).
Ability to read blueprints and perform precise measurements.

Essential Functions
