Job Description
The Material Handler-Loader is responsible for filling customer orders with tickets or voice by performing the following duties
What your day will look like:
* Fills orders from tickets according to set quotas
* Orders filled manually by walking and use of pallet jack and/or riding jacks
* Identify product by description and quantity then removing product from area and carrying to the staging area
* Check for accuracy in picking
* General housekeeping
* Complete daily powered equipment inspection form
* Reads customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
* Sorts and places materials or items on pallets according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code
* Marks materials with identifying information
* Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed
* Count items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to Company standards
* Performs appropriate duties as assigned by management

Ability to solely operate a cherry picker, going up 20+ feet.

O'Neal Steel has an opening for a (2nd Shift) Material Handler at our Birmingham, AL facility. The Material Handler will load and unload material within a warehouse. Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, overhead cranes, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Has knowledge of commonly used practices, and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
What you will be doing:
* Operate a wide variety of material handling equipment including, but not limited to, forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
* Use a variety of hand tools including, but not limited to, grinder, bander, drill, hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, etc.
* Accurately read a tape measure.
* Provide high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.
Must be able to work 2nd Shift (12:00PM-8:00PM) Monday - Friday. Overtime will be required as needed.
* Upon offer of employment, candidates must pass a criminal background check and drug test.

What You Do
Unload incoming raw materials and stock them in the correct locations with proper labeling
Verify materials against purchase order information and complete accurate cycle counts
Read work orders and deliver the correct materials to the production floor on time
Maintain a clean and safe work area, removing scrap and reporting unsafe conditions
Use required PPE and follow safety expectations at all times
Operate a forklift or obtain certification within 90 days

Ability to follow directions, work with a team, and stay organized
Basic math skills and comfort working with measurements and space
