The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for process improvements and process engineering activities at our facility (Standard Operating Sheets, Production Work Instructions, Poka-yokes, Layout Changes, Process Trainings, Line Balancing, Machine Reliability Studies, and Capital Project Execution). This position involves working in a team environment with safety, maintenance, plant production supervision, and engineering support departments. This position will focus on implementing projects that directly impact machine uptime, equipment reliability, and product quality.
essential duties & responsibilities:
Support manufacturing on layout changes and equipment moves for existing or new equipment introductions through the capital process.
Review history of equipment downtime and analyze the likelihood of repeated failures.
Prioritize the likely failures.
Analyze the failures. (5 why's)
Investigate and create/design the best possible countermeasures and/or early warning indicators to prevent failures.
Implement countermeasures and monitor results.
Perform advanced troubleshooting equipment during breakdowns (downtime).
Assist operators and maintenance in machine design, programming, and function issues.
Assist in confirming machine repeatability.
Analyze spare parts & tooling needed for the equipment.
Assist managers/supervisors in resolving non-downtime (nuisance) issues.
Analyzes, develops and recommends design approaches necessary to meet production requirements for new or improved products and/or processes.
Determine from part drawings and related engineering data the operation necessary for the fabrication and assembly of product.
Develop production equipment needs and justifications for new equipment and processes.
Use lean tools to troubleshoot and support production.
Support problem solving & 6S events
Travel as business needs require which is currently expected to be minimal.

**What You Will Do:**
The Engine Life Management Team (ELMT), part of the Pratt & Whitney Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering (ASE) team based at Columbus Engine Center (CEC), has an open on-site position at CEC for a cross functional Design-related Project Engineer supporting various (Repair and Limits) Design, Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs), and the Component Aftermarket Integrated Product Teams (CAIPTs) in support of aftermarket operations and the maturation of the NGPF fleet.
The primary function of this position is to facilitate Repair and Limits design tasks, including Project Engineering, technical writing, and Repair and Limits Design. Secondary responsibilities will be varied but include general project management and support of various Aftermarket/CIPT/CAIPTs responsible for various GTF hardware at CEC in Columbus, GA. This position is a key role within ASE as it provides a direct engineering link to the commercial aftermarket.
Candidate should be customer focused as well as technically proficient and capable of effective and professional technical communication, since this role will include direct interface with aftermarket operations, program management, and Engineering management.
+ Work as an onsite representative of ASE supporting Repair and Limits Design tasks and CIPT/CAIPT engine/hardware investigations and dispositions.
+ Coordinate and influence resources to meet technical, development and production requirements
+ Monitor and trend hardware health for limit updates, product improvement, and repair activities.
+ Liaise between Aftermarket Operations and Engineering regarding design tasks and investigation scope and implementation.
+ Prepare and present status and technical content to cognizant Pratt & Whitney stakeholders.
+ Facilitate or complete the evaluation of incoming tasks and hardware non-conformances.
+ Support (Repair and Limits) Design team in the resolution of EagleNet cases raised by Aftermarket Operations.
**Qualifications You Must Have:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field
