Qualifications Required:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

Expertise in thermal management, vibration isolation, and liquid cooling systems.
Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or Inventor), PLM and digital thread practices, and analysis tools.
Experience implementing systems engineering frameworks (SysML, MBSE).
Proven success in leading complex, multi-disciplinary hardware development programs from concept through to production

Preferred:

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Power Propulsion Units (PPUs)
Role Overview:
Seeking a senior-level mechanical engineer to join the Design & Analysis Team, with primary responsibility for PPU chassis design. This role requires full ownership of the PPU mechanical system: chassis, covers, slices, interfaces, fasteners, and sustaining engineering. The engineer must integrate electrical, thermal, structural, and manufacturing constraints into robust, flight-ready designs. In addition to their own design work, this person will also mentor and provide oversight to junior engineers working on similar technology.
Must Haves:
· Chassis & Packaging Ownership - Full responsibility for chassis architecture (covers, slices, interfaces), with strong grounding in DFM/DFA and material properties.
· Electrical Coordination - Proven ability to collaborate daily with electrical engineers and translate board requirements into mechanical solutions.
· Thermal Design (Space Environment):
o Deep understanding of conduction and radiation as the primary modes of thermal transfer in spacecraft environments.
o Experience with thermal conduction paths through chassis into heat pipes/spacecraft panels.
o Knowledge of thermal vias as a primary method of CCA heat extraction, and how to interface them mechanically (gap pads, preload, flatness).
o Familiarity with surface finishes, coatings, and emissivity for thermal radiation management.
· Mechanical Analysis Skills - Steinberg analysis for CCAs, shock and vibration survivability, and spacecraft-specific load cases.
· Sustaining Engineering - Experience with non-conformances (NCR/MRB), ECO implementation, and supporting hardware through production.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration - Effective at working with design, analysis, manufacturing, supply chain, and QA to deliver flight-ready hardware.
· Mentorship Capability - Comfortable guiding one junior engineer, offering technical direction while staying fully hands-on with their own design work.
· Proficiency with GD&T and compliance with ASME Y14.5 drawing standards.
