Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems to maintain 100% Up-time including: fire/life safety, mechanical systems such as (HVAC, chillers, crac, crah, plumbing, controls), electrical including emergency backup systems such as (lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, power distribution, transformers), and hot water systems. Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, and ventilating and water heaters; pumps, valves, piping, and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment. Must record readings and make and adjust where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment. Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required. Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe workplace. Learn and understand the data center site in-order to manage incidents and events that put the critical systems at risk. Work order management, including CMMS, Vendor Management, and Customer Facing Tickets. Understanding and complying with emergency escalation procedures. Perform additional job duties as required. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Aecon engineering team onsite in our Charlotte, NC and Mt. Laurel, NJ offices. The successful candidate will work with our experienced engineers in designing nuclear and conventional generation power plants. What You'll Do Here: * Assist with mechanical engineering assignments of limited to moderate complexity. * Prepare mechanical calculations, bill of materials (BOM), and basic engineering drawings using CAD software. * Support plant data gathering and field walkdowns. * Maintain detailed design document files. What You Bring To The Team: * The successful candidate will have completed 3 years of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a 4-year ABET accredited college or university. * Completed coursework in thermodynamics, with power engineering and HVAC coursework preferred. * Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) * Experience with graphical design software such as Autodesk AutoCAD * Experience working with others in a project team environment * Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills * Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment * Ability to prioritize and organize work in a multi-tasked environment Due to the nature of work that United performs, candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States.
