The student selected as the Amentum Advanced Solutions Scholar will work at Amentum' Tullahoma, Tennessee office. The student will work under the supervision of a technical manager and mentor in the Process Mechanical and/or Machine Design group - groups that perform engineering design of complex testing equipment and facilities for the automotive and aerospace industries. Intern students will work 40-hour work weeks for approximately 10 weeks during the months of June, July, and August (negotiable). Students will work on project teams under the direction of a manager and with the assistance of a mentor, are required to attend planned activities, and must make an end-of-assignment presentation to other co-ops and Amentum staff. It is the responsibility of the selected candidate to make their own housing arrangements for the duration of the internship period. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES Essential Functions: * Reviews and approves site plans for compliance with City standards, including review of storm water management, erosion prevention, sediment control plans and calculations before final approval and coordinating with applicants and consulting engineers. * Reviews and approves subdivision master plans, preliminary plats and final plats for compliance with City standards, including review of storm water management and erosion prevention and sediment control plans and calculations before final approval and coordinating with applicants and consulting engineers. * Reviews and approves access, traffic patterns, circulation, traffic impacts and related traffic matters for site plans and subdivisions. * Reviews and approves construction cost estimates for development projects for permitting fees, sureties and bonds, deposits and fees in lieu of construction. * Reviews and estimates impact fees and impact fee offsets. * Reviews and approves permit applications for developments and construction. * Conducts pre-application, pre-construction, construction progress and other development and construction related meetings. * Provides engineering representation for Development Services before City Council, Planning Commission, BZA, HZC, other city boards and Commissions, neighborhood meetings, design public meetings and other public meetings. * Reviews and approves roadway and drainage construction plans for compliance with applicable local, state and federal standards. * Performs or reviews drainage impact studies to determine impact on drainage system from development or modification to drainage system. * Reviews annexation requests, zoning requests, right of way and easement requests and formulates recommendations to management, Planning Commission and City Council. * Performs review of development plans and permits for compliance with FEMA and City Floodplain Management requirements. * Updates the technical specifications and typical standards for the City Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision and Street Regulations relevant to development, traffic, street and drainage related issues. * Develops and implements development related ordinances, programs, policies and practices. * Receives analyzes and responds to citizens and Council requests andmakes recommendations, * Accesses and analyzes archive files to retrieve information. * Collects and researches information and data and prepares grant applications, studies, reports and recommendations. * Ensures that all necessary local, state and federal permits have been applied and received for construction projects. Additional Duties: * Performs other work as assigned. Physical Demands: * Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis. Ability to walk for extended periods of time on rough terrain and to traverse unimproved construction sites for the purpose of field inspections. Lilly is currently constructing an advanced manufacturing facility for production of API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) molecules located in Lebanon, IN. This facility is Lilly's largest investment in manufacturing capacity and is intended to provide APIs for current and future products, including new modalities. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the startup team for a greenfield manufacturing site, and the successful candidate will help to build the processes and facility to enable a successful startup into GMP manufacturing operations. The Utility Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the technical and administrative leadership of utility engineers at the Lebanon Plant API manufacturing site. The role is responsible for maintaining the site's utilities infrastructure and systems to a state of compliance. It must ensure that infrastructure is fit for use when needed, maintenance and reliability techniques are efficient and effective, and appropriate corrective and improvement actions are taken when necessary. In the project delivery phase and startup phase of the project (startup expected 2025 to 2027), leadership roles will be fluid and dynamic as we endeavor to support the project delivery, build a new organization, develop and implement the necessary systems and business processes required to support GMP operations, and build the site culture. This will require significant collaboration, creativity and resilience as the site grows to a full scale GMP manufacturing through start up. Key Responsibilities: Utility Engineering: * Build deep technical engineering expertise and capability over the following areas: * Central Utilities, to include Steam, Chilled Water, Tower Water, Compressed Air, Water Pre-Treatment, and Boiler Feedwater. * Manufacturing Critical Utilities, to include Purified Water, Glycol, and Heat Transfer Fluids. * Responsible for all systems under their responsibility (GMP And Non-GMP Utilities and ancillary systems) and understanding their applications in pharmaceutical manufacturing, trending critical process parameters and awareness of industry standards and trends. * Ensure compliance related activities such as deviations, change controls and CAPA's are resolved and implemented in conjunction with other teams. * Ensure the assigned systems and processes are aligned with external regulations and industry / Lilly standards and best practices. * Lead and participate as required in teams, committees, or other groups and/or individually to achieve the departmental, site and/or company goals. People Management: * Lead and manage resources effectively * Ensure team is compliant & trained on programs, procedures, policies, etc. And oversee team's learning plans * Lead safety communications with staff and participate in safety audits * Lead the performance management initiatives for team * Support and drive development plans and career path development for employees * Ensure team is aligned and working towards goals & objectives (site and team) * Provide technical guidance, management, mentoring and development of engineers. * Set expectations for a positive & proactive safety culture. Engineering Management: * Provide engineering direction for projects & design needs * Engage in regulatory and internal audit support * Own incident reporting, investigating, and corrective measures * Operate in a continuous state of compliance, as well as look to become more effective and efficient with our processes * Follow and ensure compliance of standards (quality, global engineering, etc.) * Establish and maintain metrics, as appropriate to support manufacturing * Develop local processes and procedures in accordance with the fume system * Provide guidance in developing scope for projects, as well as time schedules and cost estimates. * Ensure successful completion of documentation for technical changes and projects under their management, including HSE documentation. * Support safety and environmental process activities and be a role model for leadership in these areas. * Direct and develop engineers in capital project execution including process design, equipment specification, operator training, start-up support, and troubleshooting. Basic Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field * 5+ years extensive progressive chemical process and plant experience is necessary for this position * 2+ years supervisory experience in engineering.
