Summary:
The Mechanical Designer will study plans for upcoming generation of engine models, and develop strategies for improving upon current models, design products using CAD, and consult with engineering and manufacturing teammates to ensure that designs are feasible, consult with fabrication teams during product manufacturing, advising them on design specifications and providing physical assistance, calculate cost estimates for final product designs, and release reports to supervisors, incorporating costs of labor, material, delivery and overhead.

* Creating and revising models, drawings and bills of materials for rotating equipment parts and assemblies
* Interfacing daily with Design Team members, and Project Managers, and shop and Q.C. personnel.
Qualifications of the Mechanical Designer include:
* 2-year Degree in Drafting Technology/Engineering Graphics a plus but not required.
* 4000+ hours experience and is able to read Solidworks experience. (Required).
* Experience with design tables, weldments, and routing within SolidWorks a plus
* SolidWorks Certifications a plus (CSWA, CSWP, etc.).

Position Overview
As an entry-level Engineering Technician / Designer for the Electrical Distribution team at TechServ, you will begin with 2-3 weeks of hands-on job training. You will gain industry certification(s), and become proficient with the client's proprietary CAD software. After completing training, you will work under the general supervision of Project Coordinators to create high-quality designs for newbuilds, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects, including: electrical distribution design, transmission, and substation design. You will work as part of a team to support various project phases, including: planning, site evaluation, design analysis, report preparation, construction documentation, and more. Over time, you will work with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. Travel is required for this position (approximately 20% of the time).
This position serves as an entry point for additional levels of growth throughout the company (e.g., Engineering Technician II, II, IV). The ideal candidate for this role has a strong interest in working with technology and working in a team setting in an open office plan.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Under general supervision, in this role you will:
Use proprietary drafting software (CAD) for client projects, including newbuilds, alterations, redevelopments, etc. and work with Engineers to implement design changes into the system
Execute a variety of electrical design assignments using the client's distribution standard drawings and comply with NES procedures
Execute changes to designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects

What does Austin Watershed Protection do?
Position Overview
The position will assist with the city's Regional Stormwater Management Program (RSMP) and provide engineering analysis and reviews for the program. These duties will include: coordination with applicants; engineering analysis and research for projects; arrangement of discussions with applicants to determine the feasibility of participation and tracking the progress of RSMP requests; reviewing applications and development plans.
The position will coordinate with Development Services Department (DSD) drainage reviewers and Watershed Protection Department floodplain reviewers and others for the review and processing of RSMP requests. The position will assist with the tracking and data management for RSMP inquiries and cases; be responsible for the processing of their RSMP cases in the City's permit management system (AMANDA). The position will help draft the approval letters and agreements for RSMP participation; prepare RSMP payment calculations; and coordinate with the City's legal department as needed for finalization of agreements.
Some RSMP projects lead to the development of Public-Private Partnerships for the design and construction of drainage improvements. The position will coordinate with applicants, POD design team staff, Operations crews, and inspection services to help facilitate the design and construction of offsite improvements that provide regional stormwater management benefits through such partnerships.
In addition to RSMP-related duties the position will support Floodplain reviews within the Development Review Coordination Section.

Design Engineer
The primary responsibility of these positions is to provide technical support for all components brands, including but not limited to structural calculations, load table evaluations, assembly recommendations, etc.. These positions require strong technical ability to design architectural metal components products and pre-engineered metal buildings. All positions require a bachelor's degree in architectural or civil engineering with a structural focus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide neat, accurate, easy-to-follow designs that meet code requirements, supply chain restraints and system deadlines that result in least-cost systems that meet the customer's needs and company procedures.
