Position Overview:
The product development team is responsible for designing battery pack modules and system enclosures that define the direction of our future products. It is also responsible for maintaining and supporting current production programs to provide design-focused support and technical issue resolution.
As a member of this engineering team, you will work in a lead role who is responsible for driving the mechanical design, system architecture, structural integrity, design documentation, manufacturability of battery packs to ensure that we follow entire product development cycle till successful launch. You will be the component manager from the concept through production, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, thermal, vibration, structural, and manufacturability requirements.
About the Role - You will:
Design high quality mechanical and electromechanical part and assembly designs efficiently and with good modeling practices
Develop cost effective, innovative and weight-optimized structural solutions to meet thermal, NVH, and crash safety requirements
Create and manage detailed engineering drawings/design data (3D and 2D), utilizing Catia 3DExperience (3DX) by applying a high standard of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Generate detailed DFMEA and DVP&R documentation
Responsible for the development of technical project plans and schedules covering engineering activities, meeting all design control and product development SOP requirements
Support the transition of designs from prototype to high-volume manufacturing, focusing on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
Mentor junior engineers and serve as a subject expert within the mechanicalengineering team
Your Experience Includes:
Degree in MechanicalEngineering or related field; Bachelor's with 10+ years OR Master's with 8+ industry experience in mechanical design
Proficient in 3D CAD design and 2D drafting (including GD&T and Datum structuring) of mechanical components (CATIA experience is preferred)
Knowledgeable in high and low volume manufacturing methods, especially in aluminum casting, extrusion, stamping, forging, injection molding etc.
Deep understanding of structural mechanics, fatigue analysis, thermal management principles and ability to interpret FEA/CFD analysis results
Strong background with DFMEA, PFMEA, tolerance stack-up etc.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis
Additional Desired Skills:
Experience in high voltage battery systems, energy storage or EV industry
Knowledge of battery electrical components (cells, modules, current collectors, busbars, module too pack integration etc)

Overview:

Preparation of state and federal (Title V) permit applications and other miscellaneous permitting action applications
Preparation of emission inventory and Toxic Release Inventory reports
Development of miscellaneous air emission calculations
Assistance in conducting regulatory applicability analyses of federal and state regulations
Potentially provide on-site assistance to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
Support in development of proposals and miscellaneous project reports

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hr - $34.00/hr based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed
This position is also eligible for:
+ **Relocation Assistance:** Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
+ **Housing Allowance:** Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern's permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
+ **Employee Assistance Program,** providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services
+ **GE Retirement Savings Plan (RSP** )after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
