Job Summary:
Here at Salas O'Brien Inc., you will obtain invaluable hands-on technical experience that you cannot learn in a classroom. Our engineers will help you to apply your textbook knowledge and create solutions for real engineering challenges. You will gain practical experience by working with experienced engineering and technical professionals and participating in challenging engineering projects.
In this role:
In this role you will have the opportunity work with engineer mentors in the design team and take ownership of portions of various projects. You will also work in coordination with other engineering disciplines and learn how a complete design package is developed. Work tasks will vary and require flexibility and desire for diversity in the engineering field. You will acquire time management, communication, and CAD drafting skills, as well as have the chance to apply engineering concepts.

You are currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program at a four-year ABET university or college with preferred targeted graduation date within 1 year (preferred). Will consider interns who are graduating within 2 years, depending on our needs.

May also assist construction crews with construction staking so surveying experience is a plus. Must be able to walk long distances, climb over fences and under bridges and into/through large culverts. Able to perform outdoor work and drive in all types of weather conditions 80% of the time. Comfortable working alone along roadsides near live traffic and along sideslopes. Able to perform indoor office and computer work 20% of the time.
Land & Water Resources:
Assist Land & Water Resources staff with survey, design and construction oversight of conservation projects. Conduct topographic surveys using industry standard survey equipment. Design conservation practices following applicable technical standards. Attend pre-construction meetings. Conduct construction oversight of conservation practices during construction. Complete as-built documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures. Perform engineering design review of conservation engineering plans and specifications for compliance with technical standards and ordinance requirements. Education, Training and Experience:
Must possess a High school diploma, or equivalent and any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to one (1) year in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Biological Systems, Agricultural, or Electrical Engineering, Architectural, Construction Management, Water Resources, or a related field.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Also refer to the "Physical and Environmental Work Requirements" section below.

As an integral member of a cross-functional team, collaborate with Project Engineering, Industrial Design, and Factory Engineering to design and develop new fitness products. Perform a variety of technical assignments to support various projects through the Innovation and New Product Development (NPD) processes. Prepare CAD models and drawings for various components and assemblies. Ensure compliance with product specifications, internal and external standards, and testing requirements. Responsibilities:
Personnel:
* Work with Design Engineers, Industrial Design, Factory Engineer, and other members of the product development team to translate customer requirements into engineering product specifications.
* Frequent communication with North America and Asia-based project team members to ensure alignment on technical issues and project deliverables.
Product Development:
* Create CAD models and drawings for components and assemblies for products from prototype phases through production.
