The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for sampling, processing, and testing materials in accordance with established procedures and specifications, including proper documentation of testing results. These methods include American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Department of Transportation (DOT), US Corp of Engineers, etc. Other responsibilities include: Perform physical/index/chemical construction material laboratory testing, as assigned: Concrete/Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) Testing (concrete cylinder/cmu/core prep and compressing, specialty concrete testing, etc.) Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) testing (gradations, AC content, density, etc.) Soils (roadway base, select fills, subgrade, etc.), testing (moisture/density, Atterberg Limits, gradations, specialty, strength, etc.) Aggregate testing (gradation, specific gravity, unit weight, etc.) Properly document hours worked and assist in client billing efforts. Perform and keep documentation of routine maintenance and calibration of equipment. Maintain a neat/clean/safe laboratory and work space. Maintain relevant certifications to also include regular review of pertinent testing methods. Meet deadlines and priorities according to established procedures. Demonstrate the safe usage, storage, and maintenance of all tools and equipment, including company vehicle. Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
