The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for part-time lifeguards to work at the indoor natatorium located at the Delta/North building. Applicants must possess a valid Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid certifications. Lifeguards are responsible for the safety and well-being of all who use the facility and maintaining a safe environment. We offer flexible work schedules with morning shifts 6:00am-8:15am, afternoon shifts 4:00pm-6:00pm, evening shifts 6:00pm-8:30pm, and Saturday morning shifts 8:00am-12:00pm. About the Role NHL Street is seeking dependable, confident, and energetic referees to officiate youth floor hockey games in a fun, fast-paced, and community-focused environment. As a Youth Floor Hockey Referee, you'll help create a safe, fair, and exciting experience for players while upholding the NHL Street standards of sportsmanship and integrity. What You'll Do • Officiate games across various age divisions with fairness, consistency, and professionalism. • Enforce NHL Street and league rules while keeping the game flowing smoothly. • Promote positive conduct and sportsmanship among players, coaches, and spectators. • Provide clear and calm explanations of calls and rules when needed. • Assist with setup and takedown of equipment before and after games. • Report injuries, incidents, or concerns promptly to the Youth Program Director. • Serve as an active, visible representative of NHL Street to players, families, and the community. • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to officiate every assigned game. Requirements What You Bring Required Skills & Experience • Basic knowledge of floor hockey rules and gameplay. • Ability to make fast, impartial decisions under pressure. • Strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities. • Interest in youth development and creating a positive game-day experience. • Prior referee experience preferred. Physical Requirements • Ability to move quickly, run short distances, and stay on your feet for the duration of a game. • Comfortable standing, walking, squatting, and signaling clearly throughout gameplay. • Able to lift or move up to 15 lbs of equipment as needed. Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below. • Clean and disinfect restrooms on a regular basis. • Dust/wipe clean; tables, desks, base boards, light fixtures and HVAC vents etc. • Routinely inspect and replenish paper towel, tissues and soap dispensers. • Sweep and damp mop vinyl composition tile and other hard floors. • Vacuum carpeted floors and entry mats including offices, hallways and communal spaces on a regular basis. • Maintain building grounds, including weeding, mulching, trimming, mowing, snow removal and trash pickup. • Perform periodic inspections and preventative maintenance on facility systems such as interior and exterior lighting, electrical, plumbing, gas detection, lubrication and other related equipment. • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and periodically up to 80 pounds with assistance. Required to bend, kneel, crouch, reach or climb ladders.
