Required Qualifications:

Summary:
The MRI Technologist operates magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to produce high-quality 3D images used in medical diagnosis. They interact directly with patients and administer intravenous injections of contrast dye as needed and collaborate with healthcare teams to provide accurate diagnostic results. MRI Technologists are responsible for maintaining equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring patient-centered care throughout the imaging process.
Essential Work Functions:
Screen patients for MRI safety and contraindications prior to procedure, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
Educate patients on MRI procedure and answers questions if they arise
Maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot MRI equipment to ensure proper functionality and report any malfunctions
Start I.V.s and administer contrast media per orders and protocol, monitoring patients for adverse reactions
Monitor image quality during procedures and make adjustments to scanning parameters for optimal diagnostic results
Document all procedure details, including imaging parameters and patient observations, in compliance with hospital policies
Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare providers to ensure accurate diagnostic imaging and timely delivery of results
Maintain a clean, organized workspace in compliance with infection control and hospital policies
Follow hospital safety rules and procedures including infection control and radiation safety protocols
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of an MRI Technologist
Required Essential Skills:

What you'll do:
Prepares and positions patients for MRI of various parts of the body. Positioning includes setting up equipment (coils, monitoring devices, etc.) and patient in relation to each other to provide the best demonstration of body part under study. Is able to lift and position all coils.
Screens patients and personnel for any ferrous metal implants or other objects on them including credit cards and all potential missiles. Ensures that no patient/visitor/healthcare worker enters scan room with ferromagnetic objects or contraindicated implants.
Based on protocols established by Physicians & MRI Supervisor, selects appropriate pulse sequences from monitoring console for scan procedures. Accurately records all pulse sequences implemented for exam. May recommend changes in protocol or additional instructions to provide additional diagnostic information.
Evaluates results of scanning procedure for quality of results and completeness. Manipulates images through use of console keyboard and mouse to display to physician. Using terminal, can select all image display options. Recognizes problems and rectifies with respect to selection made of operation.
Photographs images from LCD display using special multi-format laser camera and display on monitor. Processes films, and check images for quality control as to windowing for contrast and proper display format and text.
Sends images to PACS system, evaluates exam for completeness, and verifies exam in timely manner. Develops a working knowledge of all PACS capabilities.
Performs daily Quality Assurance tests on equipment.
Monitoring proper level of cryogens to ensure integrity of magnet.
Informs MRI Supervisor or Office Manager and appropriate service personnel of system problems and documents accurately and completely.

Job Summary:
Operates equipment and performs diagnostic and therapeutic MRI procedures on patients according to established protocols to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Follows established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.
Key Accountabilities:

Demonstrates yearly competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to conduct examinations and meet the needs of patients with regard to the patient's age, condition or other special requirements.
Assess physician's order and patient's requisition for completeness by reviewing the requisition, pertinent laboratory results and the patient's chart to ensure the correct procedure and protocol is performed.
Documents pertinent patient and exam information and stores computerized images onto an archive media for future reference or retrieval.
Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing. Set up films properly in PACs system. Accurately inputs data in the RIS by tracking actual procedure in order to capture all charges and other relevant information.
Possess computer skills appropriate to meet departmental needs in preparation of reports and correspondence.
Performs and documents weekly quality assurance testing on equipment according to established protocols to maintain high performance of the system.
Works effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration.
Provides clinical supervision and instruction to students by maintaining and understanding of policies, procedures, and the clinical competency process (in order to evaluate student growth and competence in performing radiographic procedures).

In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of a Radiologist, operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performs procedures according to established standards and practices, including patient identification, safety standards and completion of required forms before allowing a patient to leave zone area.
Job Responsibilities:
Accurately utilizes the PACS (Picture Archival System) to make images available to the radiologist for interpretation with minimum number of exceptions.
Enters proper exam coding in the Radiology Information System and arrives and completes exams in a timely fashion.
Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
Instructs and supervises radiography students in clinical practicum. Works with the radiography student to perform exams as well as performing individual image evaluation.
Performs other duties as assigned
Operates MRI equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas parts as ordered. Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by the radiologist.
Prepares and positions or immobilizes patients properly and provides clear and concise instructions regarding the procedure before beginning an exam. Ensures quality review of the images fall within the guidelines of departmental SOP (Standard operating protocol).
Practices safety protocols with regard to patient and employee safety when in range of magnetic field. Ensures MRI safety protocols are practiced.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services. New York State Radiologic Technologist License or New York State Radiologic Technologist Temp Permit. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Advanced Certification in MRI required within 180 days of Hire or transfer. Strong communication (both written and oral), problem solving, and customer service skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Qualified applicants for this role:
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in veterinary medicine who is looking to specialize in diagnostic imaging
Perform MRI and CT scans while ensuring proper technical factors are applied
Assist in patient positioning to capture high-quality diagnostic images
Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures
Work independently or under clinician guidance to adjust scanning techniques for optimal imaging results
Identify and troubleshoot image quality issues during MRI procedures
Conduct routine MRI maintenance checks and report any concerns promptly
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe MRI suite, adhering to restricted access protocols
Support the veterinary team in additional hospital tasks as assigned
