What you will do

Ability to assess patient's condition performs intravenous injections of CT contrast and ensures patient safety through proper use of equipment.
Ability to reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents competed exams to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.

Performs required post processing and/or transfers appropriate images to dedicated workstations. Ensures prior exams and reports are available for comparison. Provides correct forms/documentation and concise relevant history to the Radiologist for interpretation.
Selects correct patient and updates necessary clinical history. Enters pertinent notes relating to present exam and indicates the reason for exam/location of concern. Resolves prior examinations accurately. Indicates when shielding was utilized.
Follows universal precautions including the use of gloves, gowns and masks as appropriate. Cleans and disinfects between each patient and can perform/document high level disinfection appropriately. Consistently indicates in Magview that infection control was completed prior to the start of the exam. Keeps work area, waiting rooms and dressing rooms clean and tidy and stocks work area with laundry and medical supplies on a daily basis.
Maintains Mammography, Stereotactic and/or Bone Density Department quality control standards and updates all necessary logs. Initiates equipment service requests and notifies supervisor as necessary. Actively participates in Time Out procedures required for certain exams. Able to perform quality control tests per ACR requirements and reboot/shutdown systems per manufacturer guidelines.
Able to recognize specific psychological (ie. anxiety) and/or physical needs of patients and determine when further assistance is needed. Promptly responds to situations which require a timely response and documents relevant information on incident forms. Able to locate and use all necessary emergency equipment (code cart, oxygen, blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeter, etc). Able to initiate emergency response policy.

Job Summary:
Responsible for performing routine and specialized MRI and radiographic procedures and examinations for radiological diagnosis.
Must accurately interpret a physician's scanning instructions, routine procedural protocols, administer contrast materials, prepare, and operate the MR equipment, associated software, devices, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.
Maintain communication with radiologists and other physicians, patients and their families, and other people.
Document all patient related information in radiology information system in a timely manner based on patient and radiologist workflow.
Perform quality control and reporting tasks, setting up and conducting MRI procedures, maintaining day-to-day schedules, assisting radiologist, and contributing to the efficient operation of the department assuring the quality and continuity of patient care.
Screens patients, employees, and visitors to maintain a magnetically safe environment according to the American College of Radiology standards.
Acquire patients' chart data/requisition and reviews both to determine correct room set-up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and safety.
Provide coverage as needed (i.e., in the event of call off or extended patient schedules).
Provides instruction/mentoring to new hires. Continuously strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation programs.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE QUALIFICATIONS:
American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), MRI certification required within 12 months of employment.
Required: Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (RTR). Connecticut Radiographer License.
Two years of MRItechnologist experience
Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
