Performs over-the-counter sales of merchandise such as food and special diets, shampoos, flea and tick control products, heartworm, etc. Demonstrates a technical knowledge of products and is capable of assisting clients with their product needs. Invoices clients, collects fees, makes change, imprints credit card forms, and obtains authorization for credit charges following the credit policies of the hospital. Demonstrates basic emergency procedures and can give proper information on transporting the patient to the hospital. Responsible for advising hospital staff about incoming emergencies. Maintains appearance and cleanliness of the waiting room and reception area, including re-stocking of products, office supplies, client educational materials, hospital brochures, etc. Prepares and sends welcome letters, new client information packets, referral and thank you letters, condolences, long wait notes, and other correspondence for the doctors and/or Hospital Manager. Demonstrates a full working knowledge of PIMS procedures and functional applications. Skills and Basic Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Prior client service experience in related area preferred but not required. Proper telephone etiquette and client service excellence. Basic veterinary medical knowledge, including products and services. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, e-mail, and practice management software experience preferred). Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and still attend to details. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Should be able to lift 40lbs on own. Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position. Skills: Primary duties include: Receptionist/CSR duties Answering a multi-line phone system. Taking messages for staff and doctors. Checking and responding to emails. Online pharmacy: order approval, prep, follow up. Check client's in and out using Clover machine for credit cards. Care credit, Scratchpay, Cash. Open and closing reports. Use of practice managment software- Impromed. Weigh pets and place rooms. Veterinary Assistant duties Exam room preparation: Client communication and education about wellness, vaccines, flea and heartworm prevention. Draw up vaccines, blood collection, fecal and urine collection. Surgery pack cleaning, wrapping, use of autoclave. Anesthesia recovery and hospitalization care. Give oral medications. Animal restraint. Must be able to lift 50lbs without assistance. Fill medication and calculate various drugs. Client communication, medical record input, invoicing, print and send go home instructions. Laboratory skills: I.H. IDEXX Chemistry/CBC and we have the Sedivue for urinalysis! Ear cytology, skin smears, urinalysis, needle aspirates (with advanced training). Love of animals! About Care Center Cincinnati & Dayton Located in the heart of southwest Ohio, Care Center Cincinnati is a bustling, multi-specialty and emergency hospital known for delivering outstanding patient care and fostering a culture of collaboration. Care Center Dayton is a specialty and emergency hospital located in Ohio's Miami Valley, just an hour north of Cincinnati and west of Columbus. Program Duration/Commitment * 6-month training program beginning June 2026 * 18-month commitment as an ER clinician following training Location * Care Center - Cincinnati: 6995 E Kemper Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45249 and Care Center-Dayton 6421 Clyo Road, Centerville, OH 45459 Program Highlights * 5-day work week consisting of 4 clinical days, 1 didactic day, and 2 days off each week * Rotate with other specialty services during the training program: Emergency, , Critical Care, Cardiology, Integrative Medicine, Oncology, Medical Oncology, Surgery, and Radiology * Surgical training * Always work with a dedicated mentor on shifts * Excellent post-training schedule: 3-day work week, no more than 3 shifts in a row, always 2 days off between working. * Competency-based curriculum that includes asynchronous learning on Vetbloom and weekly live virtual didactic rounds * Regular live continuing education events led by specialists and experienced emergency doctors * ER Mentee Salary: $100,000.00 * Work authorization in the United States is a requirement for the position.
