Pender Veterinary Centre is a busy, 20,000 sq. ft., 24-hour full-service veterinary practice serving Northern Virginia
for over 50 years. Our practice includes a dedicated exotic department, small
animal practice, emergency practice, dual surgery suites, and in-house referral
quality lab. Our veterinarians and staff are passionate about veterinary

The Emergency/Attending Veterinarian is responsible for
providing standard ER care as well as managing the care for hospitalized and
surgical patients. This DVM will also have the support of another ER DVM with
3-4 assistants with a 4 day on/off schedule, and is expected to work an
overnight shift every 3 rd or 4 th month.

·24/7/365 support from Emergency/Critical Care
staff to facilitate overnight/weekend patient care and critical care patient

We are growing and need to hire Veterinary Technicians and Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT) to join our fast-paced clinic and team. These candidates will have an outstanding attitude and be proficient in providing support to our team of veterinarians while delivering the best service to our clients. They will also work to form a team in our clinic by promoting teamwork and respect. The Veterinary Technician/LVT will lead and naturally implement to our group's cultural tenets.
You will:
* Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol.
* Support veterinarians in procedures using accurate restraint; know how to restrain fractious patients.
* Assist veterinarian in surgical procedures using proper aseptic technique.
* Maintain and use equipment such as IDEXX Procyte/CatalystOne and autoclave.
* Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology.
* Prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis.
* Monitor patients under anesthesia.
* Induce anesthesia and intubate a patient.
* Coordinate treatments and injections following the instructions of a doctor or a treatment form.
* Initiate emergency procedures; triage patients.
* Maintain pharmacy records, and controlled drug, anesthesia logs.
* Take radiographs, with knowledge of accurate positioning and techniques.
* Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse, and respiration.
* Perform dental cleanings.
* Perform and analyze skin and ear cytologies.
