Our Patient Care Technicians provide high-quality patient care to patients suffering from the most advanced stage of chronic kidney disease, known as END Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). As a PCT you will monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, initiating cannulation, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup. Our Patient Care Technicians have a combination of technical skills and genuine passion needed to develop deep relationships with patients and improve their quality of life.
Work Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must have a desire to care for people and be comfortable working around blood and needles.
Experienced PCTs must have current certification from BONENT, NNCC, or NNCO or if applicable other state approved certification.
Experienced PCTs are required to have current BLS/CPR certification.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction/supervision of the Unit Director, Clinical Manager, Circulating R.N. and the Clinical Charge, the Certified Surgical Technician is continuously responsible for assisting in the care of patients in assigned area; is directly responsible for specific technical duties as directed. Strives to assist with performing surgical procedures in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1 * Assists in OR room preparation and case set-up for each procedure, helping to provide necessary equipment. Particular attention to completeness of set-up required using the physician preference card.
2 * General Responsibilities:
a. Reads surgeon's preference card prior to procedure.
b. Gathers all instruments and supplies for procedure, sterilizing instruments in appropriate manner and setting up cases in timely fashion.
c. Gowns and gloves surgeon, as needed.
d. Keeps mayo stand orderly and passes instruments during surgical procedure.
e. Accounts for all sponges, sharps and instruments during surgical procedure.
f. Is responsible for proper handling of specimens.
g. Labels all medication containers and syringes according to hospital policy.
h. Helps move patient from OR bed to stretcher as needed
i. Helps turn over OperatingRoom and prepares for next patient.
3 * Responsible for cleaning and reassembling of instruments and equipment at the end of the day.
4 * Assists in cleaning OperatingRoom at end of day and preparing equipment for the next day.
5 * When assigned, functions as “PRN” giving breaks, lunch reliefs, and processing instruments in the clean-up room. Floats to the Ambulatory Surgery Department as needed.
6 Assist in orientation of new personnel.
7 Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be able to operate an ambulance/Medivan in a safe and legal manner under varying conditions to respond to and transport patients as directed by the Senior Technician. This is to include being an insurable driver according to the standards of the company's insurance.

Is responsible for the correct and timely completion of all paperwork (including invoices, forms, checklists, etc.) as directed by the Senior Technician.
Will be responsible for the condition of the assigned vehicle including cleanliness inside and out, and good condition of all equipment, as directed by the Senior Technician. This also includes the cleanliness of unit and station and maintenance of daily duties as directed by management and/or the Senior Technician. (The senior technician is the EMT-II who has the ability to make such decisions in the absence of management).
He/she will report to their Senior Technician any and all malfunctions of, and/or damage to any equipment whether or not the employee was using or operating the equipment at the time of the damage or malfunction. He/she will be responsible for the replacement of missing equipment (equipment listed on the daily check-off list).
Responsible to assure that all ambulances are parked inside the garages during the night hours and during adverse weather conditions, as directed by the Senior Technician.
The EMT-I is responsible for preparing and instructing EMS related continuing education classes as assigned by the QI/Training Coordinator.
The EMT-I is responsible for attending all mandatory training and meeting sessions as required by the company.
The EMT-I is responsible for attending an average of 3 (three) continuing education credits every three months of certification. Documentation must be made available to the QI Coordinator. C.E. approval is based upon Tulare County EMS approval and requires the appropriate EMS number and approval.

* Maintain security throughout the entire property.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency (i.e. CPT I/II licensing in California)
Completion of an approved phlebotomy training course (or equivalent)
American Heart Association (AHA) CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS)
Minimum of 1 year of experience within the last 3 years as a patient service technician/phlebotomist
2-3 years of phlebotomist experience in an acute care setting is preferred
Proficiency in the following: blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, urine drug screen collections, paternity collections, breath/saliva alcohol testing, LCM/Cyber Tools, TestCup, pediatric blood collections, and difficult draws
