DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Ambulatory Surgery Center provides pre, intra and post op care to surgical and procedural sedation patients. We provide service for the patient population of pediatrics, adolescents, adult and elderly patients. We work with a variety of provider specialties in caring for people having outpatient surgery.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Current documentation of certification to practice surgical technology in Oregon required.
Option 1
Successful completion of a training program for surgical technologists in a branch of the armed forces of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corp.
Successful completion of 16 hours of continuing education every two (2) years relevant to the medical-surgical practice of surgical technology.
Option 2
Successful completion of a surgical technology education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Compensation: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour The Surgical Technician provides safe, quality surgical assisting and patient care through the utilization of appropriate treatment processes and effective communication with all involved in the care and support of the patients.
Responsibilities:
* Assist with safe and comfortable patient transfers as needed.
* Assist the surgical team during operative procedures and carry out assignment by performing scrub duties or assisting the surgeon. Monitor and enforce surgical aseptic technique during procedures.
* Set up operating room, check equipment and case supplies. Assist in room preparation, sterile field set up, turn over for next case, final clean up and restocking in preparation for next day surgery. Check room and instrument set-ups and clean-up process for all surgical procedures under direction of the surgeon and/or RN Coordinator.
* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of proper care and use of all supplies and equipment in department. Assist in maintaining general cleanliness and order within department and perform routine cleaning chores as assigned. Understands and implements proper aseptic technique.
* Respond appropriately to emergency situations. Report all significant problems, events and occurrences on a timely basis to the surgeon and/or RN Coordinator. Also obtain authorization from the surgeons in the Ambulatory Surgery Center in all matters that require his/her authority and sanction.
* Multi-task in other roles such as assisting with admission/discharge, instrument and sterile supplies.
* Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Also provide the care needed per Ambulatory Surgery Center policies and procedures.
Education, licensure and experience:
* Completion of surgical technology course (at least six months in length) OR satisfactory work experience, either military or civilian, (shorter military courses are acceptable if evidence is given of one (1) year or more of satisfactory work experience in surgery following completion of the course)
* CST (Certified Surgical Technician) preferred
* Current CPR certification
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Job Description
A large hospital system in Springfield, OR is seeking an experienced Surgical Tech to join their team.
Full Time, 1.0 FTE, Evening shift, ask about our shift options!
This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.
Job Duties:
Arranges and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
Understands and applies the principles of asepsis. Establishes and maintains sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
Assists in preparation and moving of patients.
Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
Accesses computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The Surgical Technician provides safe, quality surgical assisting and patient care through the utilization of appropriate treatment processes and effective communication with all involved in the care and support of the patients.
Responsibilities:
Assist with safe and comfortable patient transfers as needed.
Assist the surgical team during operative procedures and carry out assignment by performing scrub duties or assisting the surgeon. Monitor and enforce surgical aseptic technique during procedures.
Set up operating room, check equipment and case supplies. Assist in room preparation, sterile field set up, turn over for next case, final clean up and restocking in preparation for next day surgery. Check room and instrument set-ups and clean-up process for all surgical procedures under direction of the surgeon and/or RN Coordinator.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of proper care and use of all supplies and equipment in department. Assist in maintaining general cleanliness and order within department and perform routine cleaning chores as assigned. Understands and implements proper aseptic technique.
Respond appropriately to emergency situations. Report all significant problems, events and occurrences on a timely basis to the surgeon and/or RN Coordinator. Also obtain authorization from the surgeons in the Ambulatory Surgery Center in all matters that require his/her authority and sanction.
Multi-task in other roles such as assisting with admission/discharge, instrument and sterile supplies.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Also provide the care needed per Ambulatory Surgery Center policies and procedures.
Education, licensure and experience:
Completion of surgical technology course (at least six months in length) OR satisfactory work experience, either military or civilian, (shorter military courses are acceptable if evidence is given of one (1) year or more of satisfactory work experience in surgery following completion of the course)
CST (Certified Surgical Technician) preferred
Current CPR certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Knowledge and skills:
Possess thorough knowledge of each proposed surgical procedure
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work

Option 1
Successful completion of a training program for surgical technologists in a branch of the armed forces of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corp.
Successful completion of 16 hours of continuing education every two (2) years relevant to the medical-surgical practice of surgical technology.
Option 2
Successful completion of a surgical technology education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
Certification as a surgical technologist issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or successful completion of the CAAHEP or ABHES educational program within the past twelve months.
Option 3
Candidate has practiced surgical technology at least two (2) years between January 1, 2014 and January 1, 2017 in a hospital, ambulatory surgical center or as an employee of a federal government agency or institution.

Knowledge of basic instrumentation for specialty areas including general eyes, ENT, ortho, OB/GYN, urology, vascular, plastic, laparoscopic procedures (and cardiac, if appropriate). Knowledge of sizes and applications of needles and suture types for different procedures. Knowledge of endoscopic and open staple products, sizes and application. Knowledge of implant materials and applications.
