North Brunswick First Aid and Rescue Squad is looking for highly motivated and responsible Emergency Medical Technicians to render emergency medical care to sick, disabled or injured individuals based on signs, symptoms or complaints. We operate 6 BLS units, One Rescue Truck and several support vehicles.
As well as 9-1-1 Emergency Transports, NBFARS crews rotate throughout their shift to also complete Non-Emergency Transports throughout the shift.
Qualifications

-Must be at least 19 years old and a US citizen, resident-alien or possess a valid visa to live/work in the USA.
-Must have current NJ EMT, NREMT or current certifications listed in N.J.A.C. 8:40A. We require NJ EMT, for anyone with an NREMT or EMT certified through the State of New York or any member state of the Atlantic EMS Council (currently Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia) must obtain NJ-EMT reciprocity within the first 6 months of hire.

Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP)
Applicants are required to complete a FTEP program to systematically train all candidate Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in the operations and standards of the Union Emergency Medical Unit (Union EMU) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system. It will be used with new EMTs, both new to EMS and new to Union EMU, to further educate them beyond their current knowledge base and tailor their skills to our agencys operations. This program will:
Verify candidates skills proficiency, clinical decision making, and communication skills;
Familiarize the candidate with the different forms of documentation expected by Union EMU;
Help the candidate understand and learn the policies and procedures of Union EMU; and

Physical Demands
The work of an Emergency Medical Technician is physically strenuous and can be stressful. To maintain their position, Emergency Medical Technicians must:
Have good physical stamina, endurance, and body condition which would not be adversely affected by lifting, carrying, and balancing at times, patients in excess of 125 pounds (250 pounds, with assistance);
Be physically able to work twenty-four-hour continuous shifts, if needed; and
Demonstrate motor coordination, which necessary for the well-being of the patient, the Emergency Medical Technician, and co-workers over uneven terrain.
Work Environment
Emergency Medical Technicians have one of the highest rates of injuries and illnesses of all occupations. Risks can be reduced by following proper safety procedures. To maintain their position, Emergency Medical Technicians must be able to work in environments that includes:
Working both indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather;
Considerable kneeling, bending, and lifting while caring for and moving patients;
The potential to be exposed to contagious diseases and viruses, such as hepatitis B and HIV; and
Potentially treating combative patients.

Answers calls for emergency medical treatment;
Drives ambulance to required location, parks ambulance in a safe location, and creates a safe traffic environment by placement of road flares, removal of debris, and redirection of traffic;

On arrival, transfers patient to stretcher, carries or wheels into hospital; and provides nurse or doctor evaluation of the patient's condition;
Prepares reports of trips made and enters information into a chronological log;
May also act as dispatcher determining priorities in calls for ambulance and dispatching the ambulance; and
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Duty Requirements
To maintain their position, Emergency Medical Technicians must work a prescribed number of duty hours each month consistent with either the regular or differential requirements:
Regular Requirements
Work a minimum of fifty (50) hours in a calendar month;
Work ten (10) hours of the required fifty (50) hours designated as Weekend, Holiday, and/or Emergency Differential in a calendar month;
Work one (1) assignment designated as a Special Event between January to June; and
Work one (1) assignment designated as a Special Event between July to December.
Differential Requirements
Work twenty-five (25) hours designated as Weekend, Holiday, and/or Emergency Differential hours in a calendar month;
Work two (2) assignments designated as a Special Event between January to June; and

Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring proper care and use of surgical instruments. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Performs specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedure
* Assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians' preference cards
* Inspects equipment for proper working condition
* Follows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room procedures
* Adheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packagesand preparing for the procedure
* Arranges instruments according to given procedure
* Confirms that instruments work properly
* Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays
* Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action according to policy
* Correctly uses, cares for, cleans, and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment as directed
* Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety
* Assists in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room for immediate access during procedure
* Assists in storing and stocking supplies as directed
* Maintains and updates instrument cards and surgeons' preference cards
* Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician
* Documents patient-care records and other forms according to facility policies and procedures
* Accurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about the patient's status
* Assists with room turnover/room cleaning throughout the day for optimal patient flow
* Other duties may be assigned
Pay Range: $39.86-$45.90/hr (Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications and experience.)
Required Skills:
* High School Diploma / GED.
* Completion of a Scrub Technician Certification Program.
* Must be a Certified Surgical Tech
* BLS Certification.
* 1-2 years of operating room experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties.
