Job Summary and Qualifications
As a the OR Tech in Women's Services you will deliver high quality, patient centered care as you perform the role of the scrub person on Cesarean Sections, under the direct supervision of the perioperative nurse. Our team supports each other like family and we are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this role:
+ You will be competent in the knowledge, skills and abilities to fulfill the scrub technician activities in the perinatal operatingroom as defined by AORN standards.
+ You will work with Housekeeping and Central Processing staff to clean the OperatingRooms and equipment between patients following facility policies and procedures.
+ You participate with the perinatal team in safety initiates to ensure correct surgery inpatient identification, and verification of the procedure to be performed within the OR when the patient is present and prior to the surgical prep.
+ You will count all sponges, needles and instruments with the circulating RN on all surgical procedures done in the perinatal OperatingRooms following facility policies and procedures. In the event a sponge/needle count is incorrect, the circulating RN will inform the attending surgeon and the Anesthesiologist and a course of action will be determined and the action will be documented on the OperatingRoom Record as defined by facility policies and procedures.
+ You will follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures.
+ You will consistently assist the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
Qualifications:
+ American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
+ Surgical Technologist Certificate required within 6 months of hire or State of Idaho LPN.
+ Completion of surgical technologist course or comparable experience (5 Years).

Qualifications
Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Current, unencumbered U.S. RN license and CGFNS Visa Screen. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS required and renewal every 2 years prior to expiration. CNOR certification preferred.

During surgery, will provide technical skills such as preparation, organization, and passing of surgical instruments. Will work in central processing as needed: Cleans and processes instruments, ability to utilize various autoclaves and disinfection techniques, as well as gas sterilization and use of appropriate monitoring devices. Will assist in cleaning and preparation of operatingrooms between cases and at terminal cleaning. Has knowledge of aseptic technique and the ability to create and protect a sterile field. Assembles, prepares, checks equipment and instrumentation. Reports any malfunction or breakage of equipment and instrumentation. Assists the circulating nurse in preparation of the room by obtaining needed equipment and supplies, and opening sterile items. Transports patients to surgery once proper patient identification and chart review have been completed. Ability to pick needed supplies/instrumentation for cases, assist in maintaining supplies and linen, put stock away. Answers phone in courteous manner, assists in scheduling cases. Functions as preceptor to new orientees. Remains familiar with and follows policy/procedures and standards of practice for Perioperative nursing. Participates in evaluation/review of surgical policies as needed. Participates in in-service activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient in collaboration with each patient/family/significant other to address all identified needs. Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered. Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development. Functions as a role model for current and new staff. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Surgical services division as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intradepartmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary. Verification of patient identity per hospital and JCAHO standards. Accurately and promptly documents unusual occurreneces noted during the perioperative phase. Evaluates the identified problems, care provided and patient's responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentation.
