Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech at Surgical Institute of Reading Job Summary: The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities. Key Responsibilities: * Ensure sterility of all supplies and instruments during set-up of surgical procedures. * Assist circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment. * Gather necessary surgical supplies and equipment. * Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts pre-operatively and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse. * Gown and glove surgeons and assistants. * Keep physician preference cards accurate and updated. * Retain all specimens for pathology, confirming source and name with the surgeon. * Transport surgical equipment to cleaning areas and assist with instrument reprocessing. * Interact professionally and effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members. * Follow Standard Universal Precautions, infection control protocols, and safety guidelines. * Serve as a resource to other members of the healthcare team. * Maintain required certifications such as CPR. * Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
