Provides a safe surgical environment for the patient, identifying potential hazards to the surgeon, RN and assisting RN circulator in preoperative checks of equipment. Displays knowledge of potential hazards (equipment, chemical, or gases) within the Operating Room. Utilizes experienced OR staff as a resource, and acts as a resource for new OR personnel. Assists in suturing, retracting, suctioning under direction of the surgeon. Handles and identifies specimens per policy. Expedites the effective and efficient turn-over of the OR between cases. Takes rotating call duty.
