Job Purpose The Shop Painter's primary responsibility is to prepare and paint drilling tools and equipment. This entry-level Shop Painter will also cross-train to assemble and repair drilling tools as well as troubleshoot and implement preventative/corrective maintenance on field equipment tools. Roles & Responsibilities Perform cleaning and general cosmetic work on Managed Pressure Drilling equipment Inspect equipment for damage and prep for painting Assist in training less experienced Painters Prioritize workload according to the planned production schedule Prepare tools for shipment and convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage/other designated area by hand, forklift, or other means as required and in accordance with operator training Assemble/disassemble product line tools as per procedure or Technical Work Instruction in accordance with Quality standards Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with the tools Implement mandatory modifications and/or preventive and corrective maintenance of the tools/assets Conduct testing of tools/assets to ensure integrity of assemblies Monitor, record, source and re-order day to day spares and consumables associated with the running of the plant Open crates and sort and place materials on racks/shelves/in bins as required Record operational hours on tools/assets in work order system Monitor and source spares and consumable levels to keep the plant operational and cost effective Liaise with the production/shop supervisors and leads, engineering, and other support functions as required, communicating maintenance issues and requirements Maintain daily workshop housekeeping Successfully complete training plan and competency standards as set out in the position within company guidelines Maintain a consistent level of production quality by adhering to manufacturing procedures and work instructions developing corrective action that may reduce ineffective and inefficient operation Perform various other duties and activities assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job Understand and follow maintenance and repair procedures/documentation for applicable products and equipment and complete all relevant documentation Required to be available for any approved overtime outside of normal work schedule Required to be available on call for any urgent needs Experience & Education REQUIRED 2+ years in related painting experience in an industrial environment and preservation Manufacturing, repair and maintenance, or mechanic environment High school diploma or equivalent Ability to operate forklift Ability to operate overhead cranes & jib cranes PREFERRED 2+ years' experience in related product line within Energy sector (MPD or BOP preferred) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities REQUIRED Ability to wear a respirator Basic understanding of rigging equipment Basic computer skills Basic operational knowledge of crane, forklift and materials handling equipment Good communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work well with team members as well as individually Excellent organizational skills Must be able to follow instructions Ability to lift up to 40 pounds PREFERRED Possess knowledge of workshop tools utilized by facility Knowledge of IPC requirements is a plus #LI-KP1

Under general supervision, apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimming, and fixtures of buildings and structures throughout the district. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: * Smooth and prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding and removing old paint. * Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, and other filler. * Tape, float, and texture walls and ceilings. * Select premixed paints or mix required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint to match specified colors. * Paint surfaces, using brushes, spray fun, or paint rollers, and apply paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects. * Stain, seal, and varnish wood surfaces. * Erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level. * Pick up and deliver painting supplies to capuses; maintain delivery records. * Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment by following established inspection procedures. * Receive and complete work orders. * Maintain accurate records on material and labor used. * Maintain inventory of tools and assist with inventory control of materials and equipment. * Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. * Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects. * Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures. * Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc. * Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. * Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. * Handle and dispose of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures. * Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed. * Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor. * Maintain confidentiality. * Regular attendance. * Other duties assigned. Mix colors of paint or thinning and drying additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies or according to formula and specifications. Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting. Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines. Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces on metal, for finish coats per specifications. Apply paint, stain, enamel, or other finishes to equipment, interior or exterior of ships, or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers. Adjust the flow of abrasive material and air pressure to control the depth of the blast and the speed of cleaning. Cut stencils and brush or spray lettering on surfaces. Inspect the surface after sandblasting to ensure that it meets the specifications. Clean the sandblasting equipment after use to prevent corrosion, perform routine maintenance as required. Maintain records of the types and quantities of materials used. Follow safety procedures to protect oneself and others from injuries. Position Summary Effectively manage the PROENERGY paint shop with the aim of achieving optimum quality and customer satisfaction. Reports To: Fabrication Manager Work Location: 6246 McHard Road, Houston, TX 77053 Position Responsibilities Supervise Paint Shop employees and manage daily operations. Order and maintain paint supplies and equipment, ensuring the shop stays organized and well-maintained. Oversee all surface preparation work before painting. Ensure all work meets safety, legal, customer, and internal PES standards. Deliver excellent customer service and promote positive work practices within the shop. Meet performance goals and production targets. Motivate and support team members to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Supervisor Expectations Communication Communicate clearly and effectively with employees and other departments. Conduct both formal and informal evaluations of direct reports. Make sure employees understand expectations for safety, quality, and productivity. Share company updates, policies, and performance expectations with the team. Collaborate with other supervisors and participate in daily pass-down meetings. Reporting and Administration Ensure all safety incidents and near misses are reported and escalated according to company policy. Oversee quality reporting, including NCRs, redlines, and part inspections. Maintain accurate timekeeping, approve payroll, and manage PTO requests. Submit Helpdesk tickets and request tools or consumables as needed. Communicate and document schedule progress. Write mid-year and annual performance reviews for direct reports. Prepare documentation for performance or disciplinary actions when necessary. Continuous Improvement Lead and participate in shop improvement teams and follow through on action items. Maintain and enhance 5S standards throughout the shop. Address and correct policy or behavior issues promptly and escalate when needed. Recognize and communicate strong performance from individuals or teams. Suggest and share ideas for design or process improvements. Track and report manpower hours and performance against goals. Required Qualifications Minimum high school diploma or GED, or relevant work experience in lieu of education. Material handling equipment experience: Must have ability to operate forklift safely. Must have the ability and knowledge to rig properly and safely run an overhead style crane. Minimum of six months experience with either supervising or providing technical direction to a team. Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check Desired Qualifications Associate degree from two-year college in a related technical field or certificate or diploma from trade school in related field and 5+ years' experience in industrial painting or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3 + years' experience with directly supervising maintenance staff. Experience carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
