Pay Transparency: $16.50 - $45.00/Hour (DOE; Base Rate of Pay + Piece Rate for Personal Training Services Delivered) Role and Responsibilities The Fitness Specialist/Personal Trainer is responsible for managing the fitness floor, being responsive to members and guests by offering assistance, and educating members on the safe and correct use of cardio and weight training equipment. This person also performs assessments, provides package prescriptions, answers fitness and wellness related questions, and sells personal training packages.
Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
* Sell and deliver personal training sessions to clients
* Schedule and conduct member fitness assessments and orientation appointments
* Assist members in using safe and effective exercise form during their workouts
* Maintain a clean, safe and orderly fitness floor, racking weights, picking up towels, water bottles, magazines, cleaning equipment, etc.
* Support, teach, and encourage members to meet their fitness goals
* Work together as a team with all departments
* Develop relationships and encourage member referrals
* Enforce Active Wellness policies such as cell phone use, etc.
* Attend fitness department and fitness training meetings and continuing education classes to keep certifications current
* Assist in development and implementation of new fitness programs/classes
* Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
* Work as a TEAM with all other departments
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

* Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness

* National Personal Training Certification(s) required within 90 days of hire date, as well as modality specific certifications as required by role (if applicable)
* Degree in exercise science or fitness related field required in the absence of a certification
* Operational knowledge of resistance training equipment and proper form
* Knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics
* Knowledge of appropriate exercises for specific muscle groups
* Knowledge of injury prevention
* Knowledge of basic movement and posture assessments and body composition assessments
* Ability to calculate target heart rate
* Basic knowledge in nutrition

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Certified Personal Trainer will be responsible for providing one-on-one and couples personalized fitness instruction in person to clients at their home, apartment gym or outside while encouraging them to reach their fitness goals. Responsibilities are as follows:

Education and experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent and 1-3 years of personal training experience.
Strong communication skills: Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and technically.

The Trainer will be responsible for running the Planet Fitness group fitness program (PE@PF). This includes assisting new members in the achievement of their fitness goals by designing a simple workout program and instructing them on the proper use of equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for familiarizing members with the facility, maintaining a comfortable atmosphere for members and visitors, and motivating members that seek support
• Conduct and run the Planet Fitness PE@PF program, including creating and following the schedule
• Consult with members regarding their fitness goals and provide motivation and support
• Instruct and acclimate all members to each piece of equipment in the club ensuring they know how to properly and safely use the equipment
• Create bi-weekly updates consisting of a variety of exercises
• Meet class requirements based on club size and member traffic
• Assist in front desk related activities including:
Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions
Check members into the system
New member sign-up
Take prospective members on tours
Track inventory
• Participate in the daily cleaning of the club and general maintenance of the equipment
• Respond to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner and elevate to Assistant Manager or Manager as needed
• Other duties as assigned based on club needs
Qualifications/Requirements
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma/GED equivalent required
• A passion for fitness and health
• Upbeat and positive attitude
• Punctuality and reliability are a must
• Exceptional customer service skills; able to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers, exceeding the member's expectations
• Strong listener with the ability to empathize and problem solve
• Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language
• Current CPR Certification required
• Personal Training Certification from a preferred association (IFA, ACE or NCSF) is required
Physical Demands
• Continual standing, walking, bending, crouching and reaching
• Continual listening and talking in person or on the phone
• Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
• Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals during shift

About the Role
The Fitness Coach with a gymnastics background will lead youth and beginner-level fitness programs focused on agility, flexibility, balance, and body awareness. This role emphasizes developing confidence through movement while maintaining a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver gymnastics-inspired fitness sessions for kids ages 312, integrating core strength, coordination, and flexibility training.
Adapt lessons for various ability levels, including neurodivergent and beginner athletes.
Incorporate fun, confidence-building activities like obstacle courses, tumbling basics, and body control drills.
Ensure safe use of equipment and proper spotting techniques.
Collaborate with other coaches and instructors to align programming with Solar Swim & Gyms holistic fitness model.
Communicate clearly with parents and staff about student progress and goals.
Qualifications
Background in gymnastics, cheer, or physical performance training.
Previous experience working with children or youth athletes.
CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
Positive, patient, and energetic coaching style.
Ability to teach through encouragement and play.
