In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assists with and coaches pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.

Operations
Under the supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.
Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.

Overview
Due to growth, we are adding a Pharmacist in Charge to our Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Services department.

* Interpret prescribers' prescriptions. Contact providers and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions such as drug strength, prescription signatures, and drug name to expedite processing of orders. Verify and confirm validity of controlled substances
* Verify prescription information entered in the pharmacy management system by data entry or order entry. Contact physicians for new and/or transfer authorization. Work with physicians to convert prescriptions to generic, biosimilar, or lowest net cost products to support the company's mission and values
* Provide functional supervision to professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in their respective pharmacy, including training, assigning duties, and providing input for performance evaluations
* Develop employee's skills, evaluate performance, and provide feedback. Oversee resolution of employee relations. Conduct hiring, training and evaluation of staff
* Support business continuity and disaster recovery procedures; on-call pharmacist program oversight and compliance; and inventory control and security
* Responsible for investigation, reporting and resolution of complaints, drug recalls and serious adverse drug reactions for respective pharmacy location(s)
* Appropriately document and report internal and external quality issues and medication errors. Report quality issues to direct supervisor. Facilitate error reduction and prevention strategies based off reported errors and ISMP standards

Qualifications

* A minimum of a bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Pharm D
* Resident Pharmacist license must be current and unrestricted. Must continually maintain education credits to maintain active licensure
* Further pharmacy or disease certifications are helpful but not required
* Possession of a valid Pharmacist license issued by the State where the pharmacy resides and in all required State Board of Pharmacies necessary by the respective state to mail prescriptions into that state. If not currently licensed in additional states, ability to obtain additional licenses within 6 months

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy. Licensed.
Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Tech I, Nuclear Pharmacy is to assist the pharmacist and Tech II in pharmacy operations and customer interactions, including answering questions and relaying information to physicians and pharmacists. As a trainee, the Tech I, Nuclear Pharmacy is involved in learning all basic aspects of facility and equipment preparation, including cleaning, inventory management and how to perform and record all tasks as mandated by law. As part of operating in a nuclear pharmacy, this job assists in performing quality checks, functional testing, and participating in the dispensing process. In addition, this job assists in order preparation, entry and fulfillment as well as completing ad hoc tasks, as required.

Shift/Schedule
40 hours a week
Monday through Friday 1:30am - 9:30am
Overnight Shift
May be part of weekend shift rotations - typically 1 weekend shift (5:30am - 9:30am) every 2-4 week
Must be flexible to work other hours and days if needed
Responsibilities
Prepare prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval
Draw doses into either a syringe or vial
Perform quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines.
Receive, document, and store incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelines
Maintain computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
Assist and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products
Perform general laboratory and facility clean up
May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
Make deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
Speak with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone
Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, licensure as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
Certification may be required
Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
Strong customer service skills
Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, and holding of small objects.
Demonstrated manual dexterity to dispense doses
Ability to manage up to 75 pounds
Must hold a valid driver's license in the state in which the pharmacy is located
Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist to ensure that PRH's pharmaceutical practices meet all regulatory and accreditation requirements and to comply with all applicable policies and procedures of the organization. The Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist with all stages of the medication delivery process including; reviewing, ordering, procuring, preparation, storage inventory, administration and outcomes.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
High School diploma or GED certificate with associated experience.
