Key Responsibilities
Carry out treatment programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility tasks.
Monitor and document patient progress, responses to treatment, and any changes in condition.
Use therapeutic modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and traction according to PT direction and facility policies.
Assist with balance training, transfer training, and safe use of assistive devices (walkers, canes, crutches, wheelchairs).
Educate patients, caregivers, and families on exercises, home programs, safety techniques, and functional activities.
Communicate effectively with the supervising PT and interdisciplinary team regarding patient status and treatment adjustments.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation.
Ensure a clean, safe therapy environment and proper equipment function.
Participate in discharge planning and recommend appropriate follow-up services within scope of practice.
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (associate degree).
Current state licensure or certification as required.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-care skills.
