What You'll Do:

Maintain the water plant treatment system. Collects mandated system samples. Develops, maintains and modifies as necessary, system flushing programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The primary job duty of the lead operator is oversight of daily shift operations. Functions will include the assignment of job duties for operations staff. The assigned duties will support the objectives of operations to maintain optimal treatment throughout the treatment process and the distribution of the potable water throughout the distribution system and pump stations.
The lead will assign work orders to staff and generate status reports for the Chief Operator and/or Water Resources Operations Manager.
Assigned duties will include inspections of the treatment facility, monitoring of the plant using SCADA, generating trends and reports from SCADA for analysis, inspection of the remote sites, sample collection, on-site laboratory testing, data collection, data analysis, generator inspections, generator testing, and all other duties necessary in the operation of the facility.
The lead will evaluate laboratory tests and make necessary plant adjustments to maintain optimal treatment.
The lead will ensure all required reporting, testing, maintenance, and inspections of the facilities required by the operating permit.
The position requires the use of computers for the purpose of record keeping, data entry, report writing, training staff, and developing and implementing plantoperations SOPs.
The lead will also be required to provide feedback for staff evaluations.
Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance, example; lubrication, oil changes, pump installation, and/or repairs. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees.
Assist in both preventive and corrective maintenance on City owned facilities; and maintain a clean and aesthetically pleasing work area.
Performs any other duties or tasks that may be assigned.

Working knowledge of process control procedures and principles of water treatment, pump stations, and water distribution.

About the role
As an Auxiliary Operator, you will work in collaboration with our facility control room to operate and inspect various power plant systems safely and efficiently to ensure the operational effectiveness of Reworld's industrial disposal process.
Position Responsibilities:
Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures, systems include, but are not exclusively limited to boilers, air pollution control systems, ash systems, and heavy industrial equipment
Monitor and inspect various boiler plant auxiliary equipment, including pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, turbine generators and electrical devices
Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, and industrial measuring tools to identify trends and/or potential equipment disruptions that impact facility operations
Monitor air pollution control equipment
Perform various types of material sampling, chemistry testing, and treatment of water, as required
Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment, such as: cranes, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts
Responsible to maintain correct levels of refuse-fuel in operations equipment, and ensure appropriate refuse mix in designated pits and areas of operations
Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
A minimum of 2-3 years' experience operating a boiler, heavy industrial equipment some maintenance
Experience with chemistry testing a plus
Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule
Shift:
Rotating 12 hours days/nights and additional overtime as needed/during outages

What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
PlantOperation. Operateplant equipment to regulate flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, and storage bins. Control stockpile inventory of materials.
Inspect Equipment, Structures, and Material. Perform daily inspections and maintenance of the plant equipment and document items in need of repair or service.
Monitor Processes and Materials. Monitor and review plant equipment systems to ensure continuous flow of materials and maintain certified products. Remove clogged materials when applicable.
Document and Record Information. Assist plant management with record keeping and daily production schedules for submitting reports on production and maintenance. Read and write delivery tickets to determine the mix design called for each load. Issue delivery tickets to customers.
Repair and Maintain Plant Equipment. Assist with maintenance activities, including greasing, lubricating, and other minor repairs throughout the plant when necessary.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Skills You'll Need:
Experience. Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
Knowledge of Best Practices. A basic knowledge of the concrete, cement, or construction industry is preferred.
Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of an assigned skilled certified operator. Work is performed as a PlantOperator in a drinking water, wastewater, reclaimed water treatment facilities, with both certifications by the State of Florida in water or wastewater treatment operations. Work is evaluated by inspection, review of reports, conferences, condition of facilities, adherence of standards, and efficiency of operations. The work duties require shift work for continuous coverage of the water and wastewater treatment plants. Work is times include day, nights, and weekend duty. On call coverage is required.

Controls water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant, reclaimed water system pumps and equipment. Operates and controls electric motors, pumps and valves associated with the water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems.
Adjusts chemical feed pumps to ensure the specific amounts of chemicals are added for proper treatment and disinfection of the water.
Cleans, maintains, and repairs bar screens, tanks, weirs, piping, treatment machinery, and equipment. Handles Chemicals and materials properly.
Collects water and wastewater, and reclaimed water samples. Drives a City vehicle.
Assists in training of personnel.
Monitors process control computers (SCADA and infield HMI) and adjusts valves, pumps and set points, to control flow rates and treatment processes.
Monitors SCADA system to ensure satisfactory operation of the wastewater, and reclaimed water system, water production facilities, water distribution system, lift stations, industrial pre-treatment sites and any other facilities on the system.
Maintains operational records. Records meter and gauge readings Enters log entries into various locations to Hach WIMS programs and requires a basic level training in the program.
Performs laboratory tests.
Preforms mathematics and calculations.
Performs grounds keeping, and housekeeping duties.
Performs all duties required to operate the City's wastewater treatment, reclaimed water system, drinking water treatment and distribution systems all in accordance with permit requirements and all local, state, and federal regulations.
Operates, repairs, and lubricates machines and equipment using hand and power tools. Performs preventive maintenance to equipment.
Answers phones and communicates with the public, and internal city customers, handles complaints, and provides routine information to the public.
Monitors radio communications, dispatches on call personnel, and assists field personnel when required.
Monitors and controls access to facilities for security purposes.
Maintains water quality in the distribution system and plants using the established flushing procedures.
