ROLE SUMMARY: The Utilities Process Operator is a critical role responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of Brewery-wide industrial utility systems such as steam generation, ammonia and glycol refrigeration, industrial HVAC and dehumidification, compressed air, process and potable water treatment, wastewater pre-treatment, and CO2 processing. Operators routinely monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and maintain all system. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Adhere to OSHA and plant safety standards, including Lockout-Tagout, work permitting, and Process Safety Management. Highly motivated, self-directed, multi-crafted worker that is able to work autonomously in a fast paced and often loud production environment. Operate Brewery Utilities systems including: steam, CO2, ammonia and glycol refrigeration, dehumidification, compressed air, and water. Adhere to plant cleaning and sanitation (5S) requirements Complete assigned work efficiently and per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). Responsible for process management, simple maintenance tasks, lubrication, housekeeping, and sanitation. Document and respond to all activities that occur during shift of responsibility. Respond to customer department requests for assistance with Utility system optimization and/or isolation. Interpretation of and familiarization with piping and instrumentation drawings. Analyze process data and make decisions on equipment maintenance and improvement activities. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED required. Class 1 Stationary Engineer license preferred or willingness to acquire in a timely fashion and maintain. Applicants should be familiar with automated process control systems. Experience in the following areas is desired: high pressure boilers; large-scale ammonia refrigeration systems; compressed air systems; CO2 gas collection and liquefaction systems. Applicants must have the ability perform work such as exercising large valves, instrument reading, troubleshooting process issues and lubrication of equipment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds. Knowledge of safety policies and procedures is required (e.g. lock out / tag out). Strong computer skills preferred; Microsoft Office Excel proficiency as well as maintenance software such as SAP or similar systems. Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify root causes (e.g. six sigma analysis) and propose and implement remedies. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
