General description of machinery (Kolbus & Milwaukee): Rotary Board Cutter designed for high precision cutting of recycled solid board and similar materials, primarily for producing book covers, game boards, and packaging. It cuts finished sections from sheets in two work processes, offering accurate cuts and finished sheet stacking at high speeds. Master Sheet Feeding: Magazine feeding with suction cups, adjustable guides and strippers. Cutting: Knife shafts with multiple pairs of divided knife sleeves and circular knives. Delivery: Stream delivery belt and automatic palletizer. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include: Perform machine setup, including adjusting settings and loading raw materials. Ensure the correct raw materials are being used for the specified job. Monitor machine operations to ensure proper function and quality output. Conduct regular quality checks to maintain product specifications and identify any deviations. Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor maintenance tasks as needed including the installation of new knives, hubs, etc. Coordinate with maintenance technicians for PMCS and repairs. Ensuring that finished materials are labeled correctly. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. Operate machinery in a safe and efficient manner. Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes and workflows. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of waste materials. Complete production logs and reports accurately and timely. Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge of machine operation and safety procedures. Performing other related duties as assigned. Position Requirements / Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. At least two years of previous experience operating industrial machinery (Military experience and/or at least two years' experience dedicated to trade may be substituted). Intermediate mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Intermediate computer skills. Understanding and ability to take measurements down to 1/64th of an inch. Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work shifts and overtime as directed. Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations. Physically able to perform the manual aspects of the job. Familiarity with paper slitting equipment or similar cutting systems is a plus. Responsibilities * Sets up and operates material prep machines. * Utilizes charts and table for calculations related to part setup and tooling. * Reads various machinist measuring tools and gauges, such as machinist scales, micrometers and calipers. * Operates overhead cranes as required. * Responsible for keeping machines and surrounding area clean and tools stored in their designated places. * Recognizes when machinery is not properly adjusted and makes adjustments as required. * Locates tools, parts and materials for upcoming production. * Interprets and performs minor program edits as required in order to produce a quality product. * Accurately perform inventory audits. Competencies * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals including the metric system. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. * Demonstrated knowledge of shop mathematics and speed/feeds for metal cutting will be required. * This position is performed on three (3) shifts. * Available to work weekends and overtime.
