Essential/Key Functions: Grinds metal objects, such as castings, billets, machine parts, and sheet metal subassemblies to smooth or rough-finish objects to specifications Removes excess metal, scratches, or burs by feeding metal pieces against rotating grinding wheel Examines and measures work piece for conformance to standards Selects and mounts abrasive wheels of different grit size to grinder to obtain specified finish on work piece Verify correct product using job traveler. Inspect a wide variety of commercial and manufactured parts for compliance with engineering specifications and Company standards. Use inspection methodology and record all results. Interpret complex drawings, process sheets and Company standards. Work with quality and management on any manufacturing issues/defects. Monitor machine performance and perform preventative maintenance to assure continuity of production. Monitor and ensure all fluid levels are maintained on all equipment. Uses precision measuring tools specific to job. Reads part drawing with sectional views. Utilizes overhead crane to lift, position and transport part. Maintain plant standards in areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, 5S, housekeeping, teamwork and attendance. Recommend improvements for area product and processes. Opportunity to Transition to Full-Time: After working a minimum of 1560 hours over a 12-month period, you can transition to full-time status.
