This role is highly collaborative, strategic, and technical, influencing platform roadmaps and long-term technical direction. Key Responsibilities + Lead the end-to-end systems engineering for embedded autonomous vehicle (AV) and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) platforms. + Define, document, and manage system-level requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment with product and safety goals. + Develop and maintain system architecture, balancing trade-offs in compute resources (CPU, GPU, NPU), memory (RAM), and communication bandwidth (Ethernet). + Perform system resource allocation, profiling, and optimization to meet performance, power, latency, and reliability targets. + Collaborate cross-functionally with software architecture, firmware, hardware, validation, and vehicle integration teams to ensure cohesive system design and implementation. + Drive technical roadmap planning and contribute to strategic decisions on future platform capabilities and scalability. + Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies related to system integration and performance. + Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the team. Required Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline. This position is located at the Los Alamos National lab. + Supervises the engineering activities (all disciplines) on a project, or designated portions of a project, for a global business unit. + Plans and directs engineering assignments on the project. + Provides engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical requirements. + This project has moved past the design phase and is moving into the installation and construction phase. **Primary Responsibilities** Responsibilities include: + Responsible for assigned activities within an engineering discipline in support of facility and process construction and installation. + Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the preparation of complex engineering analyses. + Performs all aspects of work in engineering operations within discipline. + Performs conventional design and analysis. + Provides construction and project support. + May lead projects and supervise the work of others. + Able to work independently and as part of a team. + Utilizes engineering technology to accomplish work. + Makes recommendations and advises on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts. + Performs risk assessments and analysis employing modeling and simulation techniques. + Provides system integration within and across disciplines + May provide direction to technicians. + Continuously improves work processes to meet customer needs. + Duties may include preparation of calculations, drawings, data sheets, specifications, reports, reviews, studies and estimates (both material and engineering man-hour) working as an integral part of a project team. + Typical drawings may include one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, feeder/circuit sizing, and conduit/cable schedules. + The Engineer may conduct drawing searches in engineering records and will perform field investigation and walkdown work as required. **Job Knowledge/Qualifications** + This position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities.
