Night shift Critical Environment - Operating Engineer What this job involves: The Critical Environments Operating Engineer is responsible for delivery of best practice systems and problem resolution on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure (UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, cooling systems etc.) What is your day to day? Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems to maintain 100% Up-time including: fire/life safety, mechanical systems such as (HVAC, chillers, crac, crah, plumbing, controls), electrical including emergency backup systems such as (lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, power distribution, transformers), and hot water systems. Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, and ventilating and water heaters; pumps, valves, piping, and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment. Must record readings and make and adjust where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment. Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required. Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe workplace. Learn and understand the data center site in-order to manage incidents and events that put the critical systems at risk. Work order management, including CMMS, Vendor Management, and Customer Facing Tickets. Understanding and complying with emergency escalation procedures. Perform additional job duties as required. The Role: The construction Project Engineer will be based on the construction project site, and may even travel to sites across the country. The Project Engineer will provide support to the project staff to ensure quality and timely execution of design/build, self-perform projects from design to completion. These phases include: Scheduling, bidding, permitting, subcontractor buyout, cost reporting, preparation of subcontracts, the handling of owner coordination, construction quality oversight, and project closeout. Travel or relocation will be required. Responsibilities: Effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and co-workers Ability to negotiate, track, and create change orders, submittals, RFI's, and pay requests Actively contribute to the project schedule and close-out process Assist Superintendent in the management of subcontractors. Monitor project labor, project costs, and equipment needs Participate in the design development process to collaborate and value engineer construction methods to reduce time and cost Assist in the preconstruction, quality, and safety processes Establish and maintain project schedules and budgets, responsible for overall project delivery Ensure contractor compliance of safety/OSHA requirements are met on all job sites to minimize risk Manage submittal process, change order negotiations and contract compliance Establish effective relationships and strive for a collaborative team environment Provide pricing for changes in project scope Any other work related-tasks required Our projects are nationwide - Travel or relocation will be required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field of study 1-5 years of experience in commercial project management Successful internships or project engineering experience is a plus Design-Build experience is ideal Active jobsite experience and strong safety record Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, inspection reports, etc. Significant knowledge of construction methods as well as an understanding of municipalities and the permit processes Ability to manage subcontractors and vendors Proven ability to negotiate and track change orders, submittals, RFI's, and pay requests Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at a time Proven ability to direct Superintendent to ensure accurate completion of project scope Documented ability to meet sensitive timelines Strong knowledge of Building Code and Safety Regulations Strong knowledge of MS Office suite including MS Excel, and MS Project or other project management software Procore Certified or knowledge and skill in Procore Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding. Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs.
