Job Description: Quality Assurance (QA) Technician Employment Type: Full Time Experience Level: Mid-level (2-4 years) Reporting To: Quality Assurance (QA) Manager We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of our quality systems and ensuring compliance with both commercial and high-integrity nuclear standards. Reporting directly to the QA Manager, you will support engineering projects through meticulous documentation control, hands-on inspection, and rigorous testing protocols in an environment governed by ISO 9001 and ASME NQA-1.
Reporting Structure & Accountability
Direct Report: This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Communication Loop: Act as a key liaison between the QA Manager and the Engineering/Production departments, providing regular updates on non-conformance trends and audit readiness.
Autonomy: Expected to exercise independent judgment when identifying quality deviations and possesses the authority to "stop work" if safety or compliance is at risk.
Key Responsibilities
1. Documentation Control & Quality Records
Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) documentation in strict accordance with ISO 9001 and NQA-1.
Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to ensure all engineering drawings and procedures are version-controlled.
Ensure "Lifetime Records" and quality evidence are archived correctly to meet nuclear-grade traceability standards.
2. Inspection & Metrology Support
Perform Incoming Quality Control (IQC) and final inspections using required Measurement and Test Equipment.
Identify and document non-conformances (NCRs); assist the QA Manager in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA).
3. Testing & Engineering Project Support
Provide QC support for functional, mechanical, or environmental tests on products based on engineering test plans.
Support engineers in the setup of test fixtures and the collection of objective evidence for validation.
Summarize test data into formal reports per NQA-1 reporting standards.
4. Supplier Quality & Travel
Supplier Assessments: Perform on-site visits to supplier facilities to assess quality capabilities and adherence to procurement requirements.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% for supplier audits and site inspections.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Technical Knowledge:
Standards: Preferred working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ASME NQA-1.
Drawings: Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
Software & Systems (Preferred):
MS Windows: Strong proficiency in navigating Windows file structures and managing shared network drives.
MS Office Suite:
Excel: Intermediate skills (pivot tables and formula-based tracking).
Word: Professional formatting for technical procedures and reports.

The Surgical Technician/Tissue Processing Technician is responsible for the sterilization of surgical equipment, arrange surgical equipment and adjust medical tools to ensure that the surgical devices are functioning properly. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arranges instruments, according to instructions
+ Assists team members to place and position patient on table
+ Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves
+ Aids team to don gowns and gloves
+ Maintains supply of fluids, such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during operation
+ Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by the surgeon during operation.
+ Puts dressings on patient following surgery
+ Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation
+ Washes and sterilizes equipment, using germicides and sterilizers

Minimum Requirements:

The Quality Engineer 1 demonstrates knowledge in application of electrical and mechanical inspection skills, nuclear and/or DOE QE program experience preferred. Experience in electrical inspections, and anchor bolt installation. Safety and Security are a primary responsibility. This position also monitors operations for adherence to project plans and specifications to ensure quality control compliance, performs inspection functions per inspection plans, records results of inspections / tests per applicable procedures, and is also responsible for implementations of quality control procedures and policies to ensure inspection / test activities to conform to applicable inspection / test plans, procedures, specifications.
**Quality Engineer (QE) 2 ($94,500- $154,600)**
In addition to the duties listed above the Quality Engineer 2 will:
Demonstrate expert knowledge in application of electrical inspection skills, typically 13 years with construction, residential, nuclear and/or DOE QE program experience preferred. The QE 2 will apply high-level quality control techniques and statistical process control methods to identify correct measurement methods, tools, and/or systems; identify data collection points; and analyze the data to identify failure modes, track trends, focus improvement actions, rate the performance, and measure effectiveness.
**What You Need**

+ Knowledge of and experience with quality regulations, policies, and procedures.
+ Ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

**What You Will Do** **The Accelerator Operations and Technology Division (AOT), Radio Frequency Engineering (RFE) group is seeking an Engineering Technologist level 2 or level 3 for their 805 MHz HPRF team.** **The AOT division maintains, operates, and upgrades all accelerator systems used at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) complex. These consist of two 750-keV Cockcroft-Walton-based injector systems (H+ and H- systems), a 201.25-MHz drift-tube linear accelerator (LINAC) utilizing high-power diacrode tubes, an 805-MHz coupled cavity LINAC utilizing high-power klystrons as the primary power source, a proton storage ring, and roughly a kilometer of beam transport lines that deliver beam to the five independent research programs.**
**The RFE group is principally responsible for all radio frequency (RF) systems. The group consists of three teams: (1) Low-Level RF (LLRF) focused on real-time phase and amplitude controls; (2) High-Power RF (HPRF) systems at 201 MHz; and (3) High-Power RF systems at 805 MHz.**
**This position will be filled at either the Engineering Technologist 2 or Engineering Technologist 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.**
**Engineering Technologist 2 ($94,500 - $154,600)**
**The successful candidate, working closely with other engineers, technologists and technicians, will contribute to the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the LANSCE 201.25-MHz and 805-MHz high-power RF (HPRF) systems, including high-voltage power supplies and associated electronics, and high-power RF test stand development and operation.**
**The position will also involve working with High Voltage and RF engineers to plan and implement RF system upgrades, e.g., new klystron amplifiers and the newest solid-state high-voltage pulsed power systems. The position will involve prototype testing, data collection and analysis for design refinement of klystrons and modulators.**
**The successful candidate will also provide on-call support for the LANSCE high power RF systems after hours and on weekends. The on-call assignment will typically be for one week per month during accelerator operations (approximately 7 months per year).**
**Additionally, the position at this level will be responsible for planning and managing maintenance activities; analyzing RF system data to inform design enhancements for improving performance and reliability; planning, designing, implementing, and contribute to RF system upgrade projects, e.g. high-voltage convertor modulator power systems and klystron modulator monitoring and control systems.**
**The successful candidate will also provide power electronics expertise to all segments of the group, particularly in the areas related to vacuum tube amplifiers and the equipment required to operate them.**

The applicant will be responsible for leading the installation of a new High Power RF test stand at LANSCE.**
