Hand in Hand India was founded in 2003 by Barnevik and Dr Kalpana Sankar in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
In 2007, Hand in Hand Afghanistan was set up with Seema Ghani as chair.
Since 2011, Hand in Hand has organised an annual Social Enterprise Program (SEP). The course showcases the role of social entrepreneurs in reducing poverty.
