Job requirements
You have experience supporting large capital programs to implement new technologies and systems providing system safety expertise. You are comfortable working in large, complex and fast paced team environments.
You will work directly with safety, engineering, and operations teams to define, assess, and verify safety performance across complex systems, ensuring safety remains a foundational element in every project phase. You will manage and oversee safety risk assessments, hazard analyses, and system safety evaluations across multiple programs.
Responsibilities:
* Identify and quantify safety-related risks, developing actionable mitigation strategies to reduce potential system hazards.
* Facilitate risk review boards and ensure coordination of safety findings across engineering, operations, and management teams.
* Maintain and update risk registers, safety logs, and compliance documentation in accordance with client standards.
* Develop and present safety risk reports and data visualizations for senior leadership and regulatory stakeholders.
* Support safety audits, compliance inspections, and corrective action tracking.
* Collaborate with system engineers and human factors specialists to integrate safety risk management into design and operations.
* Lead and advise on safety certification strategies and processes, systems and subsystems in alignment with policies and safety management frameworks.
* Interpret and apply safety regulations, standards, and orders to system design, integration, testing, and operations.
* Oversee the development, review, and validation of safety certification artifacts, including system safety assessments, hazard analyses, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
* Collaborate with certification authorities and internal engineering teams to ensure certification objectives are met across all lifecycle phases.
* Provide technical and regulatory guidance to design and integration teams on safety-critical functions, verification approaches, and certification pathways.
* Participate in system reviews, audits, and safety working groups, ensuring traceability between safety requirements and certification evidence.
* Develop safety assurance plans and processes that align with Safety Management System (SMS) frameworks and applicable federal guidance.
* Assess changes to systems to determine impacts on safety and recertification requirements.
* Track certification progress, metrics, and milestones; report status and issues to leadership.
* Support the preparation of certification packages and facilitate approvals for new or modified systems.
* Identify opportunities to enhance certification processes, reduce cycle time, and strengthen compliance posture.
* Act as a liaison between client, contractors, and third-party vendors to ensure consistent interpretation and application of safety standards.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and analysts on certification procedures and documentation practices.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* U.S. Citizenship Required
* Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
* Experience with system safety assessments, risk management, and safety case development.
* Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and related assurance methodologies.
* Proven ability to interpret technical data, perform safety analyses, and communicate results effectively to both engineering and executive audiences.
* Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:

Provides engineering support and guidance in troubleshooting complex process problems as needed to ensure that process, systems, and/or facility modifications enhance operation of facility. System troubleshooting includes digital control software and equipment.
Analyzes laboratory and other reports, including process efficiency data; identifies causes of non-routine events; recommends process control strategies and adjustments to process variables affecting the quantity and quality of process effluent; identifies how adjustments in one unit process impact other unit processes and overall plant performance.

Ceramic Process Engineer
The Process Engineering team is responsible for developing and manufacturing advanced technical ceramic materials and products for a variety of applications and industries, including 5G communications, aerospace, military & defense, battery technology, medical and several other advanced technologies. The Process Engineering team works closely with the advanced Technology Development team to develop new materials to support these technology sectors and with the Manufacturing Operations team to deliver world-class quality products to the market. We are seeking an entry level or experienced Materials / Ceramic Engineer to join our Process Engineering team and play a critical role in support of the development and manufacture of advanced technical ceramic materials and products.
Job Responsibilities
Develop new or enhanced ceramic processes related to specific areas of manufacturing such as ceramic powder synthesis and powder processing, ceramic body forming, ceramic sintering, and post foundry production operations to provide products that meet form, fit and function for our customers.
Will define and/or recommend processing or handling equipment requirements and specifications, and review processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of ceramic products.
May be involved in any part of the manufacturing cycle or development of product.
Will coordinate the design requirements and collaborate with Product Development and Engineering, Sales, and Quality to ensure processing and production capabilities.
Compile and evaluate material characteristics and electrical test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications. May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment technology, tooling and tooling design, kiln and firing techniques and associated refractory materials.
Implement improvements, make process changes through established change controls, and ensure the processes meet required yields and material performance requirements.
Responsible for defining and establishing process documentation, including work instructions and process controls.
Will collaborate with the Manufacturing teams to support required KPIs, goals and objectives and make problem solving a priority to support Manufacturing.
Qualifications
BS or MS in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or other related Engineering disciplines
The ideal candidate will have Ceramic Process and Manufacturing experience
Core engineering principles; detail oriented and metrics driven
Team player with strong process understanding and process improvement capabilities
Six Sigma or other problem-solving methodologies and experience
