Position Overview
Plant Engineering is the department within Lincoln Electric which is responsible for designing, maintaining, improving, and supporting the equipment, manufacturing processes, and plant-wide infrastructure. Past Engineers have worked to create the operations as we know it today.
As a Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and executing projects across our manufacturing facilities in the Cleveland and Mentor areas. Your focus will be on identifying and solving technical challenges while ensuring that all equipment and processes align with the organization's safety, health, quality, and productivity standards. Job Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate in a team environment to execute capital projects for manufacturing facilities in the Cleveland and Mentor areas.
Take responsibility for the mechanical aspects of projects, which may include design, documentation, equipment installation, project management, and support.
Develop engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability and safety, reduce operating and maintenance costs, and effectively manage outage risks.
Create and maintain sustainable documentation for use by engineering and maintenance teams.
Design solutions that comply with ISO 14001 and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives to enhance environmental and employee health and safety standards.
Provide capital cost estimates and establish project timelines to ensure successful completion of project work.
Specify and solicit equipment quotations to confirm compliance with desired specifications.
Deliver technical support to the Production and Maintenance departments.
Coordinate and interface with process engineering, production, maintenance, and supply management teams.
Work closely with and often manage outside engineering and construction personnel.
Ensure all safety, health, environmental, and compliance requirements adhere to the appropriate regulations.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by managers within the Plant Engineering department.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Level II Engineer 3+ years of hands-on, mechanical engineering experience.
Level III Engineer 5+ years of hands-on, mechanical engineering experience.
Selected candidate's job-level and pay grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.
Technically proficient in CAD modeling. Preferred systems: Solid Edge; AutoCAD
Willingness to occasionally work off shifts, travel between facilities in Northeast Ohio, and travel as required.

The Materials & Processes (M&P) Engineer is responsible to ensure product integrity during design, manufacturing, repair, and aftermarket service for the Héroux-Devtek Landing Gear Division.
Main responsibilities:
Evaluate, qualify, approve and specify all materials and processes used on landing gear design components.
Technically support manufacturing operations related to M&P: specifications, procedures, manufacturing plans, process techniques, deviations, substitutions, repair, MRB dispositions, certifications, corrective action, operator training certification, internal and external audits, efficiency and cost reduction projects.
Act as a delegated M&PE approved by customer for all manufactured designated parts: manufacturing plan and process technique approval, as applicable.
Represent the company as an active M&P member and subscriber within the Nadcap councils: meeting, task groups, internal processes and external process supplier accreditation.
High level of responsibility: Must be able to operate independently. Must be able to make sound engineering decisions.
Our ideal candidate:
Bachelor degree in materials or metallurgical engineering or equivalent;
Minimum of four (4) years in the metallurgical industry, preferably in aerospace;
Expertise in landing gear materials and processes related, such as high strength steel, aluminum and titanium alloys, heat treating, plating, peening, forging, casting and NDT processes;
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
Practical experience with metallurgical laboratory testing

Primarily responsible for providing expert knowledge and leadership in the development, application, and deployment of advanced materials and material processing technologies, utilizing an understanding of materials thermodynamics, materials thermal processing fundamentals, and ferrous metallurgy.
Specific duties include:
* Conceives, plans, and executes projects working either alone or in collaboration with others to address the needs of the business units or corporate centers. Takes a lead role in collaborative effort to solve complex problems while requiring novel approaches that leverage and/or further advanced engineering research in metallurgy and materials science. (40%);
* Interacts proactively with product development, sales, marketing, and manufacturing. Leads activities with outside vendors and suppliers to accomplish project goals. (30%);
* Provides guidance and advice to management to change direction in an existing program or project as warranted by scientific or technological development. (10%);
* Acts as a mentor to other associates, helping them to develop excellent technical, problem solving, and leadership skills. (10%);
* Serves as a technical expert for the company in the development and application of advanced materials and associated processing technologies. (10%)
Requirements:
* Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Materials Science or similar field and 24 months of experience in a Materials Engineer or similar position.
* Experience must include expertise in corrosion testing and materials characterization using SEM-EDS and XRD.
