MANUFACTURING ENGINEER I/II
As a Manufacturing Engineer at Rocket Lab's Silver Spring, Maryland location, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving manufacturing processes for aerospace components. Identify potential project scope changes and aid in development of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines
Support contact for design clients and builds effective, long-term client relationships
Survey existing building conditions / Conduct Field Observations and prepares technical reports of findings and commissioning support
Represent the Operations team in startup, testing, factory witness testing, commissioning, and turnover
Prepare project design and construction documents
Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering a MUST
Professional Engineer or on tract for a PE ( current FE or EIT) a big plus!
5+ years' experience in mechanical systems design for Data Centers or Mission Critical Facilities.
Previous experience working at an Engineering Consulting firm, A/E, MEP a MUST
Experience with hyperscale / colo / enterprise / complex data center design / mission critical facilities design projects a must
Previous experience using: Revit MEP projects, AutoCAD MEP, BIM, Trane Trace or IES VE Energy Modeling software a plus
Previous experience with heating and cooling load calculations, ductwork and piping sizing, selecting HVAC equipment, energy modeling, CFD / Computational Fluid Dynamics and other engineering calculations
Experience with Mechanical / HVAC / Cooling Systems / Controls System design and installation.
Extensive Experience with Mechanical / HVAC Equipment: HVAC , Boilers , Chillers , Pumps , CRAC / CRAH Units , Air Handling Units , etc.
Knowledge of codes and specifications for the design of mechanical systems including National Electric Code, Life Safety and Energy Conservation Codes
Site asset acquisition experience a plus; someone that can assist with determining the viability of converting an existing building / brownfield into a Data Center
Experience with creating concept-level design, reviewing drawings, and schematics
Experience performing field observations during construction
Understand and apply building codes, permitting, local regulations, and standards
Knowledge of mission critical equipment and systems, design process, pre-construction requirements and the construction process
Demonstrated ability to evaluate the design and constructability of site design by third-party consultants
Ability to effectively communicate complex project details and market information and analysis at all organizational levels to include senior leadership, utility partners, and local stakeholders
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with internal staff, external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders
Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Self Starter, self motivated, Strong problem-solving skills and should prioritize well and have the ability to successfully work independently and within a team
Active participant in local data center organizations (7x24, AFCOM, DCD, Uptime Institute, DICE Bisnow, etc.)
Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus! (Navy nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force - Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)
