Position Summary
The Packaging Engineer will report to the Senior Director R&D. The candidate will support on the day-to-day development activities of innovation launches across liquids, creams and the non-woven product portfolio. They will work closely with cross-functional partners as well as the external network of suppliers to bring product ideas to life from concept to execution. This individual will have a technical competency and be responsible for the creation and upkeep of packaging specifications, coordinating package line trials with external partners, and developing package testing plans to support flawless NPDs.
Primary Responsibilities
Partner with Marketing, Operations, Procurement, Quality and Finance on developing new packaging through external suppliers.
Ensuring that projects meet the brand's needs while meeting cost, quality, design and functional requirements.
Manage the creation and upkeep of packaging component specifications in specification system.
Develop testing plans for NPDs and execute with third party testing labs and component suppliers.
Identify and implement cost savings initiatives.
Visit on-site production startups and line trials to qualify new packaging componentry and new fillers.
Maintain knowledge of external vendor capabilities.
Stay current with new packaging material regulations and industry trends.
Troubleshoot issues in production.
Support ongoing base business to ensure stock coverage.
Other support duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Packaging/Plastics/Mechanical/Industrial/Chemical Engineering, or related field.
3-5 years of proven experience in package engineering & development in consumer products, beauty, or related industry.
Experience creating packaging specifications for manufacturing.
A technical acumen with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings for components and assemblies.
Strong carton board and paper experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of various manufacturing processes including extrusion blow molding, ISBM, injection molding, printing and filling.
Knowledge of various CPG packaging materials and their physical and chemical properties.
Ability to partner effectively across a diverse set of business partners and customers to deliver key results in a timely manner.
Entrepreneurial; Business owner mentality, willing to be hands-on and contribute as one team.
Ability to tackle complex problems through critical thinking.
Excellent communication skills, including spoken and written English.
Ability to travel Domestic and International up to 25%.
Strong PC skills: MS Office, PowerPoint, CAD software is a plus.

POSITION PROFILE:
This position is primarily responsible for creating, maintaining and optimizing CNC Programs (Milling & Turning Centers), Operation/Tool Sheets, Mfg. Routers and tool/fixture designs utilizing best practices to effectively support machine shop operations for Marotta Controls, Inc. Your knowledge/expertise should include both Gibbs or Mastercam, and PRO-E. This knowledge will be applied during the design phase of new products, redesign phase of existing products, equipment set-up activities, cost estimates, facility layout plans, root cause troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives. The incumbent must be a dynamic individual who can multi-task and oversee various activities associated with aerospace manufacturing ensuring that Mfg. Eng. activities are conducted in a manner that complies with company requirements (i.e. regulatory, safety, administrative, etc.). This position requires effective interaction with a broad spectrum of people both internal and external to the organization to successfully support operations and the corporate strategic vision.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
5 years of related experience in a machine shop manufacturing environment (Aerospace preferred, but not required)
2 years of Gibbs and/or Mastercam & PRO- E usage
High School or (GED) Diploma, Bachelor's degree in Mfg. Engineering or related field preferred
Self-motivated individual who possess the ability to analyze, organize, plan, prioritize assignments, multi-task and achieve results through interaction with others
Possess math skills required to design tools/fixtures and generate accurate, safe CNC Programs in an effective manner. Ability to interpret various types of graphs and data required for problem solving, SPC, etc.

Must be computer literate. Demonstrate proficiency using Gibbs or Mastercam & PRO-E, CAD/CAM.
Ability to read, interpret documents (i.e. procedures, blueprints/technical drawings, etc.) and use necessary measuring devices/equipment to confirm tooling/fixturing geometries and dimensions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements

Effectively communicate issues in a timely manner to all affected parties internal/external to the Marotta Organization
Train and provide guidance to personnel required to support the goals and objectives associated with Mfg. Eng. and machine shop operations

Design for Manufacturability:
Work with product design teams to ensure components are designed for manufacturability and ease of assembly.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Job Description Summary:
Product development: Plan, implement, monitor and deliver designated tasks and deliverables. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer duties and responsibilities encompass the development, validation, and optimization of manufacturing processes for aerospace components and assemblies including Cartridge Actuated Devices (CAD) and Propellant Actuated Devices (PAD). The Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer has the following responsibilities:
Process Development & Design:
Develop and validate manufacturing processes for aerospace components, Cartridge Actuated Devices (CAD) and Propellant Actuated Devices (PAD), assemblies, and systems.
Design tooling, fixtures, and production equipment to improve efficiency and precision.
Apply process improvement methodologies to reduce waste and enhance productivity.
Product Quality & Compliance:
Ensure manufacturing processes adhere to aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, FAA requirements, etc.).
Collaborate with quality teams to develop inspection and testing procedures to support customer requirements and standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to quality or process deviations.
Design for Manufacturability:
Work with product design teams to ensure components are designed for manufacturability and ease of assembly.
Provide feedback on design feasibility, manufacturability, and cost reduction opportunities.
Process Optimization & Automation:
Analyze current manufacturing workflows and implement improvements.
Identify, implement and manage automation and new technology adoption in manufacturing.

Documentation & Standards:
Create and maintain process documentation, Work Instructions, and SOPs.
Ensure all manufacturing activities are well-documented for traceability and certification purposes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
