DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES: • Develop design concepts on 3-D CAD system (SolidWorks). • Produce drawings and models to ANSI-Y-14.5 format-up to and including level III. • Assist in the development of products. Chair and participate in design reviews, assuring that products meet the overall design objectives, are producible, have no safety flaws, and are saleable • Solicit input of perceived/actual needs/ideas for developing new product/program. • Develops and creates virtual models to analyze designs using finite element analysis or dynamic simulation • Oversee the manufacturing of prototypes, managing the overall project so that all required prototype components are available to meet project schedules • Work may include being a project manager, design lead or participate as a team member • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment, effectively prioritize, and execute tasks while under pressure • Individual projects and priorities and deadlines are established by the employee in consultation with the supervisor. Utilize performance management principles and techniques to fully maximize productivity. • Develop instructions and procedures for R&D technical personnel. Train others in processes and procedures as needed • Record or direct the recording of required data from measurements and observations as well as producing clear, concise reports when required • Develop, coordinate and conduct testing procedures & testing to validate concepts • Conducts research and economic analysis • Identify opportunities for improvement of established programs. • Will be expected to independently evaluate, select, and adapt situations, and modify techniques, procedures and criteria to solve problems encountered. • Plans, schedules, conducts/coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work.
