Department Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies (COAPS) Responsibilities The Marine Data Center (MDC; ************************** specializes in managing surface marine meteorological and physical oceanographic observations measured in-situ by research ships and remotely by space-based satellites. Located in the Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies (COAPS; *************************** at the Florida State University (FSU), the MDC provides operational data management services for over 30 research vessels recruited to the Shipboard Automated Meteorological and Oceanographic System initiative.
